Yet a BIGGER anvil!!!

Nice looking anvils. I have been looking for a 100 lb for years of and on. Something I can cary. I have a 20 lb 100year old anvil I take into my shed in wet weather on a stump. I also use it for my history letter openers. My biggest is 219lb.

The trouble with my little anvil is it feels like I only get half power and bounce.

A big beauty like yours should make life easier. Keep the amaturs away from it you don't want hammer edge marks.

Why yes, yes I am!!! :p

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! :D

BTW- "micad" is Mike Dagley, my friend that now has the Centurion.

Oh, and the back of that pretty red pick-up goes along with the rest of the pretty red pick-up, which is Mike's, which he kindly drove all the way up to PT yesterday. THANKS Mike :D

Nick,

I'm glad I got to be there when you first laid eyes on that Gladiator.........they were bigger than the anvil! You were like a kid in a candy store for the first time........all those pretty toys. The power hammers, anvils everywhere, hammers, tongs, you name it and Russell's iron work/art was truly exceptional.
Yep, it surely was a candy store for you.
I really enjoyed the drive up there and it was a real pleasure to see the joy in your eyes as you (instantly) made the decision to buy it! A dream come true for a fine young (gentle)man. I'm thankful that I could share the moment with you.

Now, just a comment to the rest of you guys out there.

If you're shopping for an anvil I don't think you could find a better company (or people) to deal with than Nimba Forge.
Russell Jaqua and his lovely wife Wylene treated us with such great hospitallity that it felt like we were leaving close freinds behind when we left.
As for their anvils---------simply AWSOME! I HIGHLY recomend them!

Mike

Congrats on the new BIG BOY TOY, Nicko. I have the Centurion, and it's all the anvil I'll ever need, but by golly a gladiator would be nice! You are right about the design and detail that Russell puts into the Nimba. Its fantastic to work with - every blow landing gives results. Its like the rolls royce of anvils and I mean that so sincerely. Anyone who wants to own the state of teh art in anvils, and most-importantly... keep your money in AMERICA... buy a nimba anvil. Grats again, Nick. :)

Thanks J-

I didn't know you had a Centurion. It really is the cat's meow and more than enough anvil for bladesmithing.

But like I said, I'm compensating ;) HaHaHa!!!

Seriously though, I got a good deal on it, and will have it forever, so I pulled the trigger.

You hit the proverbial nail on the head J, the Rolls Royce of anvils and money to a fellow American craftsman and his family. :D

Congrats Nick! That thing is a monster. The idea of working on a NEW anvil.....whoaaa!!!!! Just don't fool yourself that this will be it...... This will hold you for awhile. Probably longer than most. You'll never get rid of it thats for sure. But once anvil lust sets in...... I was happy with the 145 Foster, till I found the 185 Hay Budden, which held me until I came across the 300 lb Kolswa and I knew I was set. Then there was this cute little 96 lb mouse hole just perfect for demo's.....Well, you see what I mean. I've got all the anvils I need, ........really.....honest.......

Ed, gee thanks

HAHAHAHA! You're right I'm sure!

Anvils just have this allure to me. One of those tools I just love. The history in each one, the work they can do...all the possibilities.

Kind of weird to think this one's history will all be from my knives (and some ornamental work whenever the urge hits me).

If I come across one or twelve in the coming years that really tickle my fancy, I wouldn't be surprised a bit if I eat my words and get out the wallet :D

Hey Bill :)

I just got done cutting about 1/2" off of each end. They were quite sharp... now they would bruise you if you walked into them, but they wouldn't puncture.

Come on down anytime buddy :D

-Nick-

I was just gonna suggest you place a clown nose on each end, or maybe some corks :)
Enjoy your metal.
