Yet another fake to watch out for

Seller is in Borger, TX. That's not too far away. Maybe I should drive down there with a real one and show him that he's peddling fakes.

I contacted this guy last night and he responded to me this morning. He said the company he bought them from did not mention anything about their lack of authenticity. He said thanks for bringing it to his attention.

does anyone have pictures?
Here you go. Obvious differences are the pivot screw and lack of grooves for LH clip mounting. Also that Spyderco never offered a sheath with it. Harder to see, at least in these photos is that, as Rycen pointed out, the "ball" isn't a ball at all, it's a rod with rounded ends.

what are the folks at ebay doing about this? it's really easy to find fake knives on ebay.

Sogflash: Currently, Ebay is doing.....pretty much jack. Seriously, I've taken to just sifting through the fakes whenever I need to distract myself.

I reported both of these listings to E-bay yesterday. I noticed that both auctions were both ended today. The seller relisted them both but described them as "Spyderco Like" knives instead of the genuine article.

Spyderco really needs a "Fakes" page so that these sellers that say "These are real Spyderco knives" can be sent a link to show them, no these are not real and these are copies IE the G10 UKPK and Spin. As well they should show what to look our for in a copy/fake.

Report those as a listing violation.

The bottom line is eBay doesn't care unless Spyderco themselves report the item. The top of four fakes to watch out for are the gunting, the UKPK, the etched spin and the polliwog.

Why not a "fake" or "counterfeit" thread here with a pic of the fake and a pic of the real deal. Just pics of each, not necessarily the site of the fake.
This would be a good comparison tool for everyone.

Two still for sale today, both reported and one message to the seller that he is selling a counterfeit knife.
