The Spins are one of the hardest, if not THE hardest, to spot. Pretty much comes down to clip screw spacing and tang stamps. The comparison photo in this thread on the Spyderco Forum shows the differences extremely well.
I believe that it is pretty tough to get the box shipped in, look at the goods knowing that you paid $3 per knife, and still believe that you are not selling a counterfeit. I have been to places where the fakes are made... no one tries to pretend that they are real - and they price them accordingly.
That seems out of the ordinary as of late. Glad to hear it.What really gets me is the fake Poliwog auction that people to him it was a fake and he listed it in his auction and yet people still bid.
