Yet Another Mora Thread... (Mora 2000)

As it's been a whole day or two since we've had a Mora thread, I thought I'd contribute this:

I own six plastic handled Moras. I've been resisting the Mora 2000 because it's so ridiculously expensive (sarcasm) and because I think it's the weirdest and ugliest knife I've ever seen (not sarcasm.) BUT, I keep reading about how wonderful it is, so I've got the itch. I sent an email to Ragnar (at Ragweed Forge) to see if the Mora 2000 would soon return to his website. He answered that, yes, it would return but that it might be awhile because of the reorganization of Frost/Erikkson.

I can wait. :)

Bought one from Ragnar... used it.... liked it. While it's not my favorite Mora, it was a great slicer. You can't go wrong with them. I gave mine to my Cousin. His idea of a good blade consisted of a off the stand, Pakistani folder. I couldn't take it any longer.... so now he uses the M2K.;)

Got mine a few years ago and it's my favorite user amoung the mora blades.

Longbow started the "mora porn";) :D

I can add to it. The Eriksson 510 edged out the M2K by a very, VERY small margin:)

I've gotta try an M2K, I've heard too many good things about them.

Where is a good place to browse them/buy them?

Most of my made-in-Scandinavia/Finnland knives come from RagWeedForge.

You can also do a Google search and compare prices.

I have been very happy with my 2000. It's the FB part of my super lightweight kit.

thanks TL/

Don't see the M2K listed at ragweed,
it's at the bottom as part of a gift pack, but no listing separately.

Are they still available, or were they a limited run?

You can sometimes find good deal on the M2K on ebay.

The M2K is one of my favorite field knives, and my favorite of the mora knives.

Darn! That's where I got mine - for around $30.00. I'd contact Ragnar and see if he'd sell you one.

Other than that -- wow -- slim pickins given that it's current product. I HAVE seen them on ebay. (There is a Scandinavian fourm at the other place.)

i have a few mora's, but the M2K is one that i do not have...... i think i need to get one.....:D it looks like a great user.....

I got a few moras from a guy that sells on Ebay. If you do a buy search on Mora knife he always has a few moras and recently the 2000. his store listing is under bensbackwoods. I have had good servive from him.

I really like the Mora 2000, that is, when I can get my hands on it. If I'm at home my wife likes to use it in the kitchen. I have cut more meat with that knife than any other. In the bush my daughter snags it. They are a great general purpose knife.

I once loaned it to a guy who was cutting meat for a cookout (Brazilian style, lots of meat). He handed it back to me after a few minutes because it was scaring him.

This is as close as I get the M2K in the bush. Mac

I've purchased a couple of Moras from Ben. I've been watching his site, but have only seen a couple of M2Ks go through.

I got mine on ebay, but not from Ben and for some reason no one else bid on it and I got it for 12.50.:D

The M2K sheath is a good blow pole. No, not that kind. You blow into it and direct forced air into a fire, great for fire starting or for coal burning, used to make depressions such as a bowl or spoon.

Ben on Ebay is great. Fast shipping and reliable Ebayer. I've had several great deals with him. Didn't get my Mora 2000 from him however. I won mine from a private seller w/one of Normark's kydex sheaths for 25.00 bucks shipped :D . One of my favorite camping users.

Yeah, I ordered one of Erics sheaths for a Frost SwAK. Just waiting for it to arrive. I figure the next sheath I get, will be for the M2K.
