Yet another 'Need some direction' thread

I like some of the offerings from LT Wright for a knife that fits your budget and size. 4.5", .125" thick O1 blade.

Take a look at the OKC Blackbird SK-5.

Read ALL the reviews, watch some video's, see what you think.

It's a very simple no frills purpose built knife.....

I have owned it, so I can give you my $0.02.

The ergo's are as good as it can get. (Handles are Micarta as well)
The grind is super utility, no BS.
I love the blade steel. (CPM-154)
The size is perfect, 10 inches OAL, 5 inch blade.

It's right around $100.00

It just works.

I had never heard of the OKC Blackbird SK-5 before. Just looked it up and I like it alot, it looks just like Horace Kephart's.

It's just a superb tool.

I hate giving my opinion on a particlar knife, because it's just that, MY opinion.

I just can't think of a better, more purpose built fixed blade, anywhere near that price range...

Holy Smokes ! Awesome information, everyone. I've been camping BF and youtube all day trying to sort through it.

I 'found' a few extra dollars. At first I got all stupid thinking I would buy something high dollar. Fortunately, I came to my senses and decided that since I am not absolutely certain, I would buy two knives with some variations, before getting silly financially.

I made my first purchase. Not sure yet on the second as I am still researching all of your suggestions.

Purchase number 1 is an LT Wright Bushmaster. It's A2 with a Scandy Grind. With loud and obnoxious g10 orange handles. I clearly have an orange fetish. All that time growing up walking the Pomona gun show with my dad while he searched endlessly for Gerber Mark II dive knives, orange or yellow handles.

Baffled as what to try that would be a bit different than the LT so I'll keep reading.

Here's the LT

A relatively new, but amazing knife is the Mora Pro. I have a few Moras (maybe 8 or 10) and the Pro leaves the others for dead. It's a more substantial blade. I have the Pro S as I like my outdoor users to serve as fishing utility knives as well as bushcraft knives.

i would never recommend any schrade knife. i bought one and it came with a crap edge, unfinished scales, the metal stock not cut right, and warped blade. You should look at any of the Fallkniven's.

Check out TOPS Brothers of Bushcraft blade. That and the Spyderco bushcraft would be my choice for the type blade you are looking for and in your price range.
The TOPS you can find easily on Amazon.
