Alright guys, I'm counting on you.

Looking to add one more folder to my small collection. As of right now I've got a Spyderco Gayle Bradley 1, a CS AK-47 in cts-xhp (laugh it up CS haters, wanted something I could beat on), a PM2 in s110v, and a Hinderer XM-18.

Here's what I'm looking for:

No gentleman folder, want something that is stout
Weight is not a concern
Good steel but doesn't have to be a super steel
THUMP DEPLOYMENT - this is huge for me. Not a fan of flippers unless the thumb studs are actually functional
Grippy handle - basically just anything that isn't all titanium
Blade - Length 3.3 and up - Shape is not a big concern
Lockup - open to just about anything as long as it is rock solid

Price - like to stay under $200 but will stretch for the right piece/deal

Thanks guys!

Check out the kizer 4403. Great materials at a great price. Very stout knife, a lot bigger than it appears in pictures. Its a ti framelock, and I know you said you didn't prefer ti, but the way they textured the titanium makes it feel almost "sticky".

If that things not stout enough go for the for zt 301!

The only thing I'm laughing at is your hasty assumption;):p

I'd recommend a Sebenza. I know, it's more than $200 but you never said how much you'd stretch:D Or, for around $200 you can get the new Spyderco Myrtle. It has a marbled carbon fiber scale, which is some really neat looking stuff in person.

Haha it wasn't meant as hasty, and only directed at the folks who make it a point to engage in non-informational conversation about how awful CS is. I'd be the first to admit that I don't think their knives are near as polished as many brands discussed on here, but I do think they serve a purpose for a lot of people.

Kizlyar Supreme - Ute & Vega
-both only cost around $50, very nicely done, stout, full 1/8" liner locks, 440c, g10 & micarta, heavy duty folders...

Buy 'em both for about half of what your max budget is, scratch that "itch" of adding a new decent knife to the collection by adding 2, and put the other $100 aside towards a really nice knife down the line. And with 2 new knives to rotate, you buy yourself a little bit of time to save up until the next "itch" comes bugging.

You should give Emerson a try. They are a brand you really have to try for your-self, since they are pretty polarizing. I don't own any right now but I never had an issue, other than one being bigger than I like, with the ones I did, and I'm waiting on a KACK now. An A100, CQC-7 or Mini-8 are all real workhorses for around $200, maybe a little more.

+1 for the myrtle. Other options could be the Spyderco Mamba or the ZT 770, the New Griptillian w/g10 scales, or the Benchmade 940 knife-works exclusive with g10.

Like another person mentioned, check Kizer, they have some great stuff that meets almost all your wants/needs! :D

Kershaw Blur.

Spyderco Manix2, Manix XL, Military

My favorite from the above is easily the Manix2, especially the S110v Lightweight... It's a $100 miracle. I think the LW version is more balanced, but if that's not your thing the Blurple version like your PM2 just dropped.

For that price I like the ZT emerson design, CQC 7 or a DPx HEST triple black folder
(most ZTs that are I like, 0095, 562, 452, 566 are flippers)
