I'm upgrading my grinding equipment to a KMG variable speed grinder in a few weeks, so I've put everything on sale during my re-organizing.

New price: $135 + $10 shipping (Con. U.S. via FedEx)- BladeForums price only!

First Impressions: The 4.5” Scalpel arrived on a Wednesday after paying Jim late Sunday night; fast is always nice! My first thought as I picked it up was Wow this is a serious tool...maybe it was the tool steel :o). It feels rock solid in my hand, and while I don't pry/screw/otherwise abuse knives unless life or liberty is threatened, I have a feeling this knife would take a lot of beating if necessary. The balance is perfectly at the index finger, and the weight feels great in the hand...it is about 4.4oz by my kitchen scale, but the way it feels I thought it would weigh more. The blade finish looks great with the G-10, and it all fits together tightly as it should. The blade sliced hanging paper easily but would not shave my arm hair. I don't care about this too much, I am looking more at the design and finish of the knife..I'll touch up the edge if I really want to shave my arms! The tip and edge look about as good under 60X microscope as to the naked eye, a very nicely polished, symmetric edge and tip.

Use and Carry: I wanted a relatively small carry blade, and this one won't scare someone on the street when worn on the belt where open carry is acceptable...until you draw it from the sheath that is. But you have a serious piercing/cutting tool on your belt. The handle is long enough for good stability in everyday tasks, and it is easy to hold with two fingers on the handle and two on the sides of the blade for finer slicing tasks (as you would hold a chef's knife). There is no guard of course, but I attached a lanyard loop, and with this loop around 3 fingers in a hammer grip it feels like my hand would not slip up the blade even when wet. If the need for a self-defense stab arises, I pity me and the fool I might stab with this lovely scalpel, but with the loop attached I won't be leaving a finger at the scene too.

Did I mention this is a serious piercing tool? It practically jumps through a little hole made with the tip in paper, packing plastic, etc. Pictures of the knife really don't do the long, fine tip justice. I keep thinking there must be some optical illusion and the tip is really 6 or 7 inches from the handle.

I am really happy with the knife! Thanks Jim.
