You all know my childhood experiences with the Yetis who kept us very
aware of their presence on our ranch in the Nepal mountains.

Many people believe that the Yeti is a mythical creature, born of the
emotional fantasies created by the Sherpas to explain strange movements
and night sounds among the yak herds. I am not one of them.

Yetis can be found all over the world, called "Big Foot," "The
Abominable Snowman" or "Skunk Ape," to name a few. There have been
recorded sightings since the middle 1800s, way too many to be merely a
Sherpa fantasy.

I remember very well the shrieks and moans emitted by those Yetis on
nights when the moon was full. I can still hear them clearly and feel
the apprehension I had as I grabbed my small Yeti Hunter Knife and raced
out to help protect the ranch and the yak herd.

Recently I came into possession of two large Yeti Hunter Knives with leather scabbard that
would be an unforgettable addition to any collector's display and very
useful in the case of a Yeti attack when the moon is full. Can't be too
careful.

Love the story, maybe the knives are growing as big as the Yeti they are designed to defend against? ;)

I hope these aren't the last two ever. I'm gonna be out of the poor house one day and would love to have one. I wonder how it would fare against SC's Lizard Man?

ZZ top had a song called 10 foot pole.

As I recall the story of the song was that he was in Tibet or Nepal (Billy Gibbons I think) looking for folk instruments and he came to this village and these people did this chanting and this thing like a Yeti came over the hill and scared the crap out of him.

The song has this indecipherable lyrics for most of it and in an interview I read years ago he said that was meant to approximate the chant they did that brought the thing out

Wow! Sweet. Looks like a large BAS type blade. Nice handle without bolsters. Very pretty. Just the thing for Yeti's, or for that matter Bigfoot out here! :D

Cool satin finish on the blade; I'll bet they're sharp.

I have the one marked YH1 in the photo and I love it. :D Don't recall who snagged the others. (This was back in August)

Is it just me, or do these newer models seem to have a little more belly in the blade?

If Yangdu says there are Yetis, then there are Yetis.
I'm sleeping with my Gelbu Special under my pillow tonight!

That wood looks almost iridescent! Beautiful knives.

They'd be nice replacements for my Sasquasher, which is essentially just a hiking staff.

I always grab one of my WW II's when I go out back of the property, in a moonless night...now I know why:thumbup:

Those Yeti Hunters are really nice:)

Don't forget to wish the Yetis in your neighborhood a Merry

on Christmas Eve!

Recently, two of my Yeti Hunter Knives went to a collector New Zealand.
Being curious, I searched for evidence of Yetis in New Zealand. I could
not find one piece of evidence, or even a story, of Yeti presence there.

Stories abound, though, of Maui, a Polynesian deity who became a divine
helper for mankind. Various New Zealand myths relate how Maui stole fire
and gave it to humans and slowed down the sun's trip across the sky so
humans could get their daily work done in daylight. Very glorious tasks,
even for a divine being.

Maui and his brother created a rope trap that grabbed the sun as it
rose in the morning and apparently beat it into submission until it was
convinced to move slower through the day.

Though the Yeti might not have traveled to New Zealand yet, my collector
will definitely be ready when they do arrive quietly and announce their
presence when the moon is full. You can never tell when or where a Yeti
will show up. It's good to be prepared.
