Yojimbo as utility knife?

I'm going to have to dust off my Yoji. and EDC it again...it has been on the back burner for to long this year.

Any chance of a mini Yojimbo? Maybe around Salsa/Kopa size? I think it is still a bit big to pass off as a utility knife in the workplace. Maybe use FRN and VG-10 to bring the price down? A smaller Yojimbo with similar construction to the new Delica/Endura would peak my interest.

You should get a Spin for this purpose. I'd hate to see the Yojimbo scaled down. It is fantastic as it is, with ample room for the hand.

Why would you hate to see a mini Yojimbo? Smaller versions of the Manix, Military, and Persian seem to be a big hit. Even the Delica can be considered a mini Endura.

The Spin is nice but it's way too small.

Of the knives you mentioned, none were designed for pommel strikes. I clarify this with the Paramillie being the example here: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?p=3649013#post3649013 This is a fantastic feature of the Yojimbo, and one that would be sorely missed. If I remember correctly, it was a refinement of the Ronin design, that Mr. Janich specifically wanted. Also, "smallifying" the Yojimbo would probably reduce its already diminutive blade. As it is now, it is sufficient, and makes for a perfect carry in my sub-3" area.

Perhaps a mini-Yojimbo could work, but the size works so flawlessly now, I can't envision it.

You're right. I'd have a tough time trying to pommel strike a cardboard box at work if the Yojimbo were smaller.

I'll be surprised if the the Yojimbo escapes the cutting block at the end of the year discontinuation ceremonies. The Swick is a similar blade in a smaller package. Perhaps it would meet your needs? ;)
