Nice ones today! Here’s another favorite of my yellows…View attachment 3032876
I can totally see the applicability of the yellow in that respect. You make a beautiful knife that has all the right lines, regardless of the scale material. Awesome work. Thanks haven't used it a while as a handle material. Might be time to soon again. I've done some sheaths too for yellow handled knives. They are pretty common in our western world. I think the idea is if you lay it down in the branding pen while wraseling a bull calf or something ya can find it again eailsy in the dust, mud, blood and grime.

That's cool. There's a poster in our lil movie house The Hitching Post Theater. Its from the early days of movies and features a film by two brothers that were actual local bandits prior to being movie stars. Don't recall their names. In some of my old books on Californios and vaqueros from that era say on up to WW1 there are multiple photos of woolies here in Ca and ya wouldn't think so cause of the heat. One that sticks in my mind is a group of ten to fifteen riders in front of a motel for a big 4th of July celebration in Firebaugh Ca. Now Firebaugh ain't named that cause of its frigid temps, especially in July. 105-110 degrees not unusual. I don't remember the exact ratio but the vast majority of these guys were wearing woolies. Don't know maybe they insulate so well they keep ya cool in the summertime too. Those above look like Angora or Icelandic sheep. I've made three pairs over the years. Two from buffalo and one from bear.
The last pair was for a guy that just wanted them to hang on the wall as he'd grown up watching westerns and just wanted a pair. Now they are spendy, the buffalo hide alone was over a $1,000 but he kept bringing me his stimulus checks. It certainly was hot the day our daughter modeled them for us prior to his picking them up.

He asked what we could do with the leftovers. Wrist cuffs:

Finally saddlebags:

Made a purse for his wife too which I don't have any pics of but basically a single saddle bag with a strap. He wanted a top hat too but I told him that was above my pay grade! Heck if I was to make a pair of woolies now I'd have to sit down and think about it for a while. Probably a long while.
Yellowish?
