A few months back my girlfriend told me she had a trip planned as birthday gift. I had no idea where we were going. She told me to pack for day hikes and it was North. So last Tuesday we hit the road and drove North, I had no idea where we were going until we made the turn towards Yosemite off the highway, almost hours after we left. I was STOKED!! I had not been to Yosemite in YEARS, so this was a fantastic surprise. We drove up Tuesday and came home Friday. Two full days (not nearly enough) to explore the park, at least the part that were open this early in the spring.

What the untouched valley looks like below the dam. Just imagine what the valley would look like before the dam.

wow.. awesome pics Christian... looks like you 2 had a blast..
i absolutely looove Yosemite.. it is such an amazing place.. i have spent a lot of time climbing there over the years, in fact it is the reason why i didn't finish college..:o

WTF dude.. no knife pics??

lol, EVERY knife pic I took came out CRAPPY so I gave up. I took my new Farmer Tribal though and a few others.

Great trip. I need to get there in a few weeks when the snowmelt hits the peak to see the waterfalls. The snowpack is 160% of normal, and at the peak flow those waterfalls just thunder. I was on top of Nevada Falls once during the spring runoff and the solid granite bedrock was shaking from the force of the water.

Yeah, the water volume at all of the falls was incredible. I can only imagine how it is going to be in a few weeks. Emerald Pool at the top of Vernal falls was more like Emerald Torrent.

That's quite a present you got...
Nice time to visit Yosemite...didn't look that crowded. Last year in July I spent 3 hours stuck in traffic in the valley....decided to spend the rest of my time there in high country.
Those waterfalls....just beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
No half dome?

Someday I will live out west. That looks like heaven to me!

sick.....I just watched a PBS doc. on Muir and these pics make me want to get there all the faster. Thanks for sharing!
