You are herefore warned!

Mike,
We are also with you here in Tucson.

If anybody can beat this, you can, as you have already shown in the past. Get ready for the next round, and we'll be right next to you all the way!

We are with you Mike! I don't know if the trough can stand for you to be much leaner and meaner!!!!

The HOGs have been warned!!! I suggest you all bring your own ladders for BLADE '08 ! ! ! ! :D

All our best to you and yours,

Jerry, Jennifer, and Katie

I'll be standing right behind you ... AGAIN ... at Blade '08. :D

I wouldn't know what to do without you there.

This is just another little side-trip on the long road.;)

Thanks for the warning at the 2008 Blade Show! I know you'll be just fine, which means that I need to get off my ass and start watching my diet and drop some weight too so you don't hand my ass to me again this year at the trough.

For those of you that don't know, Mike HOGed me but good at Blade '07. He taught me to respect the old guard HOGs or pay the price. :D

Best of luck with the procedure and I'll see you in May.

Shane

(Best of luck from Debbie as well)

It is unfortunate that genetics plays a role in heart disease; makes it harder for people to control. I am happy to hear that there are some patients who take the diet and exercise advice seriously. Here in San Antonio that is a rare occurence with the patients that I see. I hope everything turns out ok!

Mike, prayers are with you. My father in law is facing similar issues.
What exactly happened, I mean how the sudden change. Did you stop your regiment of diet/fitness? I'm trying to find a way to get him back on track, however he is extremely stubborn. Example: told to take pain killers for his chronic Rheumatoid (?) arthritis. Did not do it, and all of a sudden all he can do is lay in bed. During Thanksgiving I told him, you can lay in bed all day or take the pain meds. Started taking the meds, and what do ya know...daily life continues. Stopped again, the severe pain and I'm sure depression put a lot of stress on his heart, and then its off to the ER. Has to have more tests, but they are talking about bypasses and open heart surgery. Took his pain meds Thurs, out working in the yard Friday. Anyway I'm just curious about the turn around with your condition.. I hope i'm not being intrusive.
Mark

In 1994, I started having a slight burning sensation in my lower jaw on both sides when I exerted myself, and I ignored it. Then came chest tightness, then pain over a couple of months. Once started, it progressed rapidly until surgery.

For about a year now, I have had the old jaw sensation again. Doc decided to do a nuclear stress test, with some results of concern.

My biggest issue is that genetics are against me. All the men on my mother's side of the family have had bad heart problems sooner or later. Since surgery in '94, my driving concept has been that since the genetics are bad, I need to control every factor that I can affect. Has worked so far.

As some of you old hogs know, in 1994 I saw the doctor to have some jaw and chest tightness checked out, and five days later was having five bypasses. Became a diet and exercise fanatic, walking then running then weights, lost 65pounds. (I used to be a big boy!)

A couple of years after the surgery, the doc did a follow-up stress test and said he was "stunned", that I had the test of a man who had never had any heart problems at all.
Two years ago had a followup arteriogram and per doc it "could not possibly look any better"

Well, I had a stress test last week, and doc says I have "significant reduction" in blood flow to the back side of my heart since last test. Arteriogram and, hopefully, just stents next Tuesday. You all know what this means...

Redoubling of exercise and tightening up on the eating again! By Atlanta trough time I should be a lean, mean, trampling machine!

Progunner, if anything untoward happens, my family has instructions on your first call for the Bowie, but don't let this make you go pray a-gin' me.:D

I'd never pray a-gin' ya Mike. You're too good a fellow for me to do that. Good luck and good prayers for you my friend.

 I thought you were pretty darn formidable at Blade this year! I don't know how you could be tougher, unless you start seeing Barry Bond's doctor.

Take care.

oh, and about that 1 of 7 recurve Desert Outlaw........:D

Wow...I just read this! OMG, I hope everything goes well Mike. Prayers are with you bro!

You'll do just fine. You obviously have the desire (diet and exercise, which is where the battle and war is won ). I am a certified Personal Trainer, although I'm not doing much with it right now (totally revamping my way of thinking, and training methods) My wife is also, and has her own business in the PT field. She has done well, but more importantly cares more about her clients then $$$. She could easily double perhaps triple her Business, but like I said she is focused on getting results as most her clients have some health issues. She'll fire a client in a flash if they are not serious. That being said, if you need any advice or have any ?'s pls email me and I'll get you in touch with her after I put in my 2 pennies. Just need to know what your Doc says and I'll have her write you up a program or 10 to try out and discuss anything pertaining to fitness/health you need. She is HardCore and will bust your tail...won't cost you a thing and you have everything to gain, just as long as you don't try to check out on us. Ain't your time. In the meantime check out "The Master Cleanser" by Stanley Burroughs. Follow his plan and you will not beleive the results. It is tough at 1st only mentally though.
Again our prayers are with you and we'll do what we can to help
Mark and Rena

good luck Mike, I hope all goes well. Well wishes and Prayers sent out!
