you BF bastids in Blade!

Real nice. Glad to hear it turned out. The project got off to a lousy start but but when restarted it went well and steady. Super for Dan to get on the cover and now I can say I actually touched the knife on the cover of blade! I don't get the mag and hope to find it on the stand.

Thanks.

Yeah, that was really cool. When my wife read the posts from the soldiers she started crying; it was a very special thing to be involved in. Thanks to all.

Thanks Guys But
dang I am very humbled though right now :o
I got my issue today and didn't realize they would add so much of what I had to say from the forums.. and it was a bit embellished too..I feel like I hogged the article some what.I am sorry for that..
this wasn't about me and my family.. and I had no idea they were going to post things from the forums:(

on and other note though , I was glad to see Dave got a great shot of his in there..and the others was good to see too. nice write from the troops too.
great job guys..
Roger I need to e-mail you about the contact not being over there any longer. I have a big problem I don't know how to handle..please look for the e-mail with-in a day or so..I'm so out straight I don't know which end is up..

I haven't gotten to read the article yet, but still want to say congrats to all you guys who participated. That's a mighty fine thing you all did for our men and women overseas. Any attention or exposure you get because of the article is well deserved, in my opinion. I regret not helping out myself; sure I've got lots of excuses, but I'm betting most of you do as well- yet you actually did it.

Hats off to you all, gentlemen.

Dan, I haven't seen it. Would like to but do not need to. I am happy to hear your thoughts and feelings were prevelant. I have both heard and read them various times. I am pleased your words were, shall I remark, not scarce within the article and I can not think of a better project member to have the presiding comment(s).

I ain't one to go on about this or that but being the butt hole that started all this I think it now time and on this thread to say it one time: You guys amazed me. I was both fascinated and inspired. I screwed this thing up before the first paragraph but you and the management at BF gave me another opportunity and it THEN worked. Some, many, of you impressed me with more determination that I thought I had - even what I thought I had in the beginning. You guys are really something in my book and I kinda think I'd be real comfortable sitting in the back of the bus that carries this team about the roads. You guys are the kinda guys that help make it worth being born for.

Roger

Roger,
I think the project was just summed up in your last post.
Amen Brother!

Are some of SF postings actually in the article? That is super cool if so.

RL
and a dang good piece on what you said too :D not to mention your knife
fulling a whole page  :D that is Cool..

Just got back from the book store with two copies and have finished reading it (the article). Kinda hard to get through the whole thing without clearing the eyes. It appears those are postings from the master thread here at BF. Some really appropriate copy, I believe. I think I did notice a miscommunication within one of the letters. Where it is says that my knife will be handed down and eventually sent back to me: I do not believe that is the knife I made but rather one made by another project member. Someday when it arrives back to me I will be able to determine its maker and return it and associated correspondence to him (the actual maker). edit: In reading that particular passage again it appears now that it is the team leader speaking and it is he my knife was to go to. Perhaps the first time reading I got too caught up in it. At any rate it matters not and if ever returned if not the one I made I will get it to the real maker.

I am a little bit - well, have you ever felt like you got something you really didn't deserve so much of? That's about it (the way I feel at this time) and it needs to be understood that the reason many of those postings mention me as much is just the fact that I was the one receiving those emails to begin with and they were being addressed to me.

It is a great write up at least in that any one with any sense reading it must be reminded not to take our solders for granted.

EDIT: and now that it has been time enough since first reading the article I can say that even I had mixed feelings about this project being published but did err on the side of getting the word out. Now I have to say I believe it can only help and may even change a mind or two from those strangers to us that read it. I never thought the effort of ours would be destined to any publication except our writtings here on BF and am sure if not for the foresight of Brian it would never have been. My opinion is now that Brian's almost heroic efforts in getting this into Blade will end up multipying any good we, the project, have provided. So, not just for a great knife he made but his determined work on the publication may just be the chocolate chip in the cookie. And once again it proves to be true; "the efforts of the team is always greater than the sum of its individual parts".

Roger,
I found the magazine on the stands the day after we last spoke. I bought two copies also, one for safe keeping, and one for reading. It really touched me to see the appreciation the soldiers have for the group effort that went into this project. This should open a few eyes for individuals who do not realize what these troops are doing for all of us. It is people like you and the group of amazing craftsman that put their blood, sweat, and tears into this effort, that can work miracles in our world today. Thank you for your kindness and friendship Roger.
