Well, if you believe that, the song says it all. WARNING: Sarcasm ahead! I hope you enjoy.

Looks like a Lightfoot to me. Crazy guy puts right handed grinds on right handed knives. Guess nobody's ever heard of a chisel grind for working wood. Hahaha...
You'll get tired of that fancy stainless steel after awhile when you remember how much fun constantly sharpening and oiling your "more suitable" knives was :p

Glad you guys enjoyed it. It was fun to make. Thanks for the compliments. Hey Scouter, Owen called it. It's a Lightfoot .458 Mag. Yep, he's a little crazy, putting the correct grind on the knife, it's almost like he knows what he's doing, or something. And you're right Owen, that thing bites into wood like nobody's business. I wanted to do that video cause I love knives, and especially tantos, but I got tired of reading all these threads everywhere about how unsuitable they are for working wood, and how you're gonna drop dead the minute you take a non-Mora into the woods. Nothing against Moras, but like was mentioned earlier, I'm certain I've seen chisel grinds used on wood before... And don't get me started on what a horrible idea using a steel that holds an edge, AND doesn't rust is!! Pure folly!

Hey, if I dont use my Gerber Bear Grylls special I wont have the little impossible to fold right again paper with ultra small general survival tips...

I wont get the safety orange pommel that breaks when you jump from the camera crews helicopter!

I wont be able to use the rape whistle to fend off nasty nate when I drop the soap on a rope!

Great video - I really enjoyed it. A good reminder to not take things too seriously, and a great soundtrack as well! I have recently been appreciating tanto blades more and more. Your skill and familiarity with that knife really comes across as well.

Still cool, but there is nothing wrong wihth a left hand chiseled grind for what Emerson's are intended for. I've used a CQC7 for wood chores even, and it worked well. I'ts not like I'm slicing sashimi.

I liked the video. Judas Priest was a nice touch. Given the flavor of the video, "Breaking the Law" would also have fit.

I'd be careful about where you post that. There are certain forums where you would be attacked pretty hard, because Bushcraft is "Serious Business."

I'm going through the Kochanski book right now. It is a good book, but I struggle with how much of it to present and how to present it. As a matter of fact, I just started the Knife chapter and I'm about to film an episode on the "Bush Knife." I'm struggling with how to present the material in a way that doesn't make it seem like the word of God, but also pays the proper respect. Kochanski obviously knows what he is doing. I'm going up to study with him at the end of Feb. I'm really excited to have the chance to learn from a master directly.

I've met a lot of people with expert level skill sets in a lot of different fields. Very few of them have been dogmatic in their approaches. Very few of them ever uttered the sentence "there is only one way to do this." Unfortunately, parts of the Bushcraft world seems to be infected by a brain eating zombie virus. The virus makes people try to fit square pegs into round holes, because, after all, square pegs are the only kind that work.

You guys crack me up. Thanks for all the positivity. I love this site, and another forum that deals with blades you use in Bushcraft. There's another "place" that I won't go near, even though I practice Bushcraft in the USA, where I reside. Some people take this way too seriously. But anyway, as for the comments about the '80's, hey, they were a magical time. Who wouldn't want to go back. I didn't think of Breakin the Law, but I got a sweet spot for Judas Priest. I will have to see what deranged ideas we come up with for another video. I like your stuff averageiowaguy, even your dreaded fire series. I think our style of humor fits much better here anyway. If you guys got any other critiques, let me know. I love that knife, and it tees me off when somebody told me it couldn't "bushcraft."
