I got this info on a shot show website:

GLOBAL RESEARCH COMPANY

The gun is actually a knife with a .22 lr revolver built into the handle. It does require a great deal of paper work to purchase one. The same as is required for a Class III item like a machine gun, but since it is classified as an any other weapon (AOW) category firearm the transfer fee is only $5 rather than the Class III, which is $200. This picture shows the knife with the handle open and an example with the handle bolsters remove and the ‘trigger’ extended to the firing position. An interesting conversation piece.

Hey Non...

I've seen this "Thing" before and to be quite honest with you,,,

I think its a Frigging Piece of Crap, that will not only shed more negative light on knives and guns in general...

It's only a matter of time before some Dumba$$ gets killed with it, and the stupid media will have a field day with it...

I mean if you are going to carry a gun,,carry a real gun..If you are going to carry a knife,,carry a real knife..Not a stupid frigging gadget that belongs in the CIA/KGB manual....

Just my .002

ttyle

Eric...

OTOH,

I happen to think it's pretty cool!

Oh, I have no doubt that it's a crappy gun from a practical standpoint, and the design of the knife leaves a LOT to be desired, but overall, I think it pegs out the CoolMeter!
:D

As to what the sheeple might think, I could care less.

Sheeple tremble at the sight of nail clippers and box cutters, I don't base my knife or gun purchases on what may or may not scare them.

And after BATF climbs out of the anal inspection involving fingerprints, photograph and background check and the lovely $200.00 Transfer Tax we have to pay here...although this one might come under the $25.00 Rule...or is it the $5.00 Transfer Tax for any other weapons? Why I don't know! The laws are so insane...

Regardless, just how many of these do you expect to be outside of some Collector's Case, eh?

I can answer that for you.

Zero.

Now, some peeeeee-nis might have the non-firing one and might gig someone with it, but that's not exactly the real deal, is it?

Good grief.

If anyone here has played Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, doesn't this remind you of the Spetzsnaz feild knife that Olga Gurlukavich uses on Snake during the fight on the tanker deck?

nonbox,
Thanks for the SHOT show link. It's good to see Remington coming out with so many 16 ga. models. My all time favorite bird gun was a field grade Model 12 Winchester in 16ga.
Regards,
Greg

By the way, talking about that combo knife/gun, now you have the opportunity to cut yourself cleaning it or shoot yourself sharpening it.

Gotta agree that not only is this a really stoopid design, it is the sort of thing that has to get you scratching your head and wondering just who might by it?

And why?

It is exactly the kind of thing that we can expect to see being held up by some headline-seeking politico at a press conference as an example of the kind of weapons that are destroying all we hold dear and lets pass some more laws before ........oh well, we all know the rest.

Think this rates "cool'? Think again!

Maury,

Why?
Someone made it because they could and because they thought it was neat.

Someone will buy it because they think it's neat.

Nobody's going to carry one of these things, unless they're an idiot with a lot of money and a perfectly clean record. (You have to undergo an FBI background check to get an AOW.)

As far as some Liberal Idiot waving it around and talking about how deadly it is, if you're going to worry about that, you might as well sell you knives and go register at http://www.sporkforums.com

You can even post pics of your new custom EDC Spork.

Hey Ken, that link didn't work for me! ;)

C'mon guys, this thing may be stupid and all that, but in thirty years when you see it on some collector's table with a $10,000 price tag, you just might wonder why YOU didn't buy one!*

Karl

* Assuming we'll still have any knife or gun shows then...:( **

** Which is one hellava big-a** assumption, huh?

PS: Hey Ripper: :D :D  Let's all be careful out there!:)

Scale of 1-10, 10 being best.
Practicality-1
Gee-whiz factor-10
I would want one just as a curio.

It'd make a great tool for the Modern Day Assasin!

I mean you stab someone in the side of the head, then you pump a coupla rounds into 'em just to make sure... :D

Way high on the gadget factor, especially being a revolver. Other than that it's kind of useless.

Elvislives, I think it would be quite hazerdous to stab and shoot at the same time since the barrel points from the butt.

Wayne Hansen of Riverview Arms has one of these things in .22 Magnum on his table when he sets up at the local gun/knife shows. I think he is asking about $650 for it. Wayne is a class II dealer, but mostly sells automatic knives.I help him with his table from time to time and have to say that this baby is a real traffic magnet. People walk by the table and zero in on it! The bullets come out of the guard, right above the blade spine. It has no practical use, but the gee-whiz factor is pretty high. When people find out what it takes to buy it because of it's AOW status, they lose interest pretty fast!
Still, it serves a good purpose by getting people to stop at the table who otherwise might just keep walking by. Anybody who goes to Minneapolis area gun/knife shows owes it to themselves to stop by and see this thing in person.

That's a different knife than I was thinking about, the other shot from above the blade forward. That one made more sense, who would want to thrust a knife with a gun barrel pointing back towards you???

Weird..

There must be several different variations of the knife/gun. I saw one that fired fired a single 7.62x39 round out the butt. Firing from the guard makes more sense.

Weird gizmo.
I believe some of you are right, if you want a gun get a gun, if you want a knife get a knife. Though this would be a cool thing just to have. Probably not very accurate.

I think it's pretty cool as a collector piece. How many of us own anything impractical that is just really cool??

This is nothing new though. At the turn of the century (1899-1900) there were several small shops making Pistol/knife combos that were designed to be stabbed into someone and then fired.

If you look at this example from that aspect alone it would be very effective I think.

Check out "History of the Gun" on The History Channel, they have some of the older designs on there quite often..

Hey, if someone can put a 22 short into a 2" diameter womans compact, they can surely build one into a knife :)

as an aside, wasn't there a russian knife made for their paras and special forces that could shoot the blade with some decent accuracy?

it was a hollow handle job with a difference: the hollow handle held a pretty strong spring, and the tang basically seated right thru the spring. Cocked and put in safe, the knife functioned as a normal survival knife... but there wasa trigger mechanism that allowed the knife blade to be shot from the handle.

Can anyone remember that knife or better yet, own it and provide a pic??

Hey Qey,
Vampire Gerbil has a whole page devoted to the ballistic knife. Just do a search on his username and follow his link.
