you guys like TOPS knives?

I have a Wolf Pup that I bought from someone on another forum. I like it
It's no Clinch Pick but it's a decent little knife. Some of their knives are on the more expensive side but there are deals out there.

Tops makes some quality knives, but I from the ones i've owned and handled, they are overpriced and are designed more around looks and hype than functionality.

A lot of there knives have features that are played up, but in the end are just gimmicky and not all that great.

There's a lot of hype behind the tom brown tracker knife aswell and I think the design is a bit useless.

For the steel they use, they are drastically over priced and certainly Gimmicky. Never had any desire to own one. That is a good thing as i have enough addictions without them.

I think they are a bit overpriced and i dont really like the designs but thats my opinion.

I've heard their quality, materials and heat treat are spectacular. The problem is the designs. They tend to go with these celebrity-custom deals which on one else appreciates, and some well-made but simply odd designs with an American-made price tag. I've been tempted by some of their smaller models, but the price tag is a bit much for 1095 steel. I'll pay good money for a Becker, but I'm not paying more for a knife a third the size. I can't bash the construction, just the execution.

Nothing wrong with their quality of materials but lot of makers do 1095 for a lot less money and do it just as well.

I am not a tops fan. But I don't mind paying extra for 1095 steel. I like it better than some of the super stainless steels out there

I've got 21 Tops knives, and they are without a doubt worth the price.
The 1095 suits my needs just fine.

As for the designs, they aren't for everyone, but they are purpose built tools.

I also own Grayman, American Kami, and tons of other makers that use 1095, and charge pretty steep prices for the knives. I put them all through the ringer and they've held up longer than other knives with "better" steel.

I have seen some of their knives equally priced with competitors for very similar products. Never used on though.

I have 3 , like them all, good knifes and they dont cost that much . my tracker took a lot of abuse and still sharp . keep in mind they big thick and heavy.

This is my sentiment exactly.

Mine is my favorite fixed blade, but I only payed $50 for it and then another $40 to have Krein bead blast the finish off it and redo the grind. Still well under the $130 the knife usually goes for and came out with a better knife.

As others have said their not for everyone but they do have some of the best 1095 on the market, night and day compaired to other makers 1095.

I desire their Moccasin Ranger..way cool!

Funny thing about this website..y'all bitch about offshore built knives. Then a "Made in USA" knife costs too much! WTF?

Like many have said, they are overpriced for what they are. While they have a few good designs, the majority of their stuff seems designed to appeal to mall ninjas.

For stuff supposedly designed by SF super-soldiers, I'm surprised just how impractical some of their knives are!

If you like the design, go for it. Certainly they have designs not seen anywhere else.

I have 4 TOPS, the quality is amazing. Others have said it, their 1095 is done very well.

Overpriced...ehh, maybe, maybe not. If you get it and love it, the price you paid won't matter.
