you guys name your knives?

You know I'm actually very surprised that I haven't thought to name mine. Reading The Hobbit growing up I was really into that all the swords had names, and my dad and I have always named our vehicles. So I'll be working on names for my blades.

no , but I do have ESEE Junglas what I call " Evil Junglas " because of serial number .

that's freaky, i'm not religous, so i'd appreciate having such a symbolic serial number if for nothingelse just laughs :)

i was gonna use "Mr. Pokey" but then remember i had already assigned that name to another one of my weapons :D

seriously, though, my ESEE 5 was named "Dark Matter", by a friend of mine, because it is so dense feeling.

For the most part, I go with the names manufacturers give their knives. I do have one exception, however. I purchased a Buck build-out knife based on a Nighthawk with a Strider handle. I call it the Night Strider. I can't remember if I came up with that name or the dealer I bought it from did. But it stuck. :)

Here's a pic:

Hey I grew up reading The Hobbit and LOTR too, so I know what you mean. I actually bought all the movie replicas when they came out too, lol!

As far as naming my own knives, I guess I don't do that much, But my wife did name my Fallkniven Thor "Achilles Bane" after it completley severed my achilles tendon when I dropped it on myself! :o

I think its a nifty idea. I might have to try and come up with something... maybe we can turn this into a suggestion thread

I need a name for my 53 since I love it so much.

Nope, never gave a knife or anything else non living a name.

Heck, I just call my cat, "cat". I did give my daughter a name though:p

I was scrolling down and when I was looking at the ESEE the screen cut off the R in ROWEN and I swear it said OMEN, not OWEN.

I named two, oddly I gave both away to family member. Both spydies, one I called BRG (british racing green) Favorite color hands down, and the first knife I saved up for. That lives with my sister now, cutting open feed bags at her job.

Second one was called Button, as in cute as a button. H1 ladybug SE. My Mom has it now.

To be fair, I named them 100% to score points with a girl.

Interesting Post !!! i tought i was the only insane;)

the names:

carmelo= parker cut co. pilot's survival knife ca. 1987
carmelito=leatherman Klamath s30v
max= leatherman freestyle cx
dayana= victorinox sentinel one hand,straight edge
fabian=uzi knives defender folder
nicanor= leatherman surge
jandlo=ka-bar bobcat dozier green foliage
tobi= ka bar bobcat dozier straight edge
billy=leatherman expnse series e33l...

and still have to name four more ...

No i don't...

But that sounds like a potentially fun way to make your friends nervous: Start calling your knife "Mr Stabby" and talking about what it likes and doesn't like. :D

"Mr. Stabby really likes that new Walking Dead show, yes he does."

"Mr. Stabby likes squirrels, they taste yummmy."

"Mr. Stabby doesn't like it when people say his owner is crazy. No he doesn't. That makes him ANGRY!"

It fits. I still remember those pics you posted. Burned a hole in my brain... :eek:.

Seriously though, I hope everything healed up OK. ;)

If my knife doesn't already have a name (like buck 110, or kershaw blur), such as a custom, i'll name them. Although right now i only have one custom, so that's the only one i've named.
