You are allowed to bring ONE knife of your choice, pick one now and post it up.

Multitools, Swiss Army, flints, and hollow handles containing caviar and matches not allowed.

FWIW, here is a link to my pick: http://www.kynd.com/~graydg/kniveslist-available.html

Even though I consider it on the heavy side for what i normally make I would take this one. It will do any cutting chore.

I started to post something for a laugh. But thought, just maybe, Mr. Gill was being serious this time ;)

Nick, that's a winner :D

No caviar?? Screw this.

Okay, my choice would be probably something along the lines of a Burt Foster Blue Collar camp knife, my Dan Farr chopper or my own Canadian Bushwacker camp knife.

As long as the butler comes along with a chilled pack of caviar, I figure I can handle this survival thing with any of the above knives. ;)

I'd take a knife with a mid-sized blade. One that could handle most chores. Maybe not the perfect knife for some things, but one that would work for almost everything. This knife by Russ Andrews would do just fine.

hey Nick, did you make that?
could you make me one too?
in under a month?
that survival knife(s) is awesome!
;):D

I ain't living if I don't hike into the backside of nowhere into sheep/elk country for a couple of weeks every fall. Since going in and coming out requires heavy packs, a light 4" fixed blade hunter is all I want, though I usually pack my 1 7/8" Buck Hartsook (0.5 oz) along for possible caping chores.

For years it was a Randall hunter, then a Denning chute/Big Boy hybrid, now a featherweight Pete Crowl hunter. The first two served well when I was full of testosterone but are too heavy (stag handles) for the long hunts in my sunset years.

You can view my Crowl hunter on Pete's new website: www.petecrowlknives.com

For survivor, they are mainly building shelters and chopping wood. I don't see them doing many fine tasks on the show. As a result, I would want something very close to a competition cutter design that suitable for heavy chopping but with an edge geometry thats good for some smaller tasks if needed.

If i had to pick one itd be this one:
