" I have a nice Kershaw buck knife that I don't use enough"

My reply
" which is it , a Kershaw or a Buck "

Their reply
" it's a Kershaw manufactured buck knife, why is Buck a company ? "
That made my brain hurt, and I just didn't know what to say.

There is just so so much wrong here, as a lover of Buck that is something that I just never thought was possible.
How do you know Kershaw " who wishes they were even 1/10th as good as Buck " but never heard of Buck knives ?

When they call other knives a "Buck knife" it just shows how dominant Buck is.

It's kind of like when they call any pistol a Glock.

Or any tissue a Kleenix.

That's understandable and common, but to not even know the name your using actually comes from somewhere?

Didn't the Lord say that the poor brains would always be with us?
I guess.

I just cannot fathom the concept of never having heard of Buck knives, even worse being familiar with Kershaw who started with a copy of the 110 platform.
We're not talking Hydrox vs Oreo here, Kershaw isn't even close to having surpassed Buck knives.

Don't be surprised.

There are many people today who are, at best, twice as smart as broccoli.

They are increasing in number.

We can only watch in dismay and shake our heads in wonder.

Maybe it was a Kershaw Buck Commando and the guy was just asking if Buck was a company?

That's a possibility I suppose.

The comment was on a knife related poll though, regarding a good budget friendly woods knife to test / review for those looking for something.
Mora
Buck
Schrade
It was clearly listing 3 brands and not styles of knife.

maybe he meant wildcat ridge or black horse II something like that........which is kinda a Buck copy sort of kinda style knife and just didn't know the name. so called it a Buck model?

when I hear people call a knife a Buck knife that isn't a Buck it seems to be a 110 type copy or similar knife.

In any normal distribution you have a midpoint and then the lower half.

In this case the problem is just a language issue. He means a model 110, but refers to it as a Buck knife. So he has a Kershaw version of the 110.
