You know what Reeve needs to make?

I'm starting to get a pretty decent collection of Chris Reeve knives.

There are a couple of things conspicuously absent from his product line...

1. A small fixed blade. (I have an Aviator.) I'm talking about something with a 3" blade.

2. A BEEFY Sebenza. Something to compete directly with Extrema Ratio and Strider folders.

What do you think?

A beefier sebenza??? Its all Ti , how much beefier could it get?? If you want a pry bar get a pry bar, if you want the best ....ok now before this gets ugly ...its beefy enough. :D

I'd dearly love to see what Chris could do with a slip joint. Nothing fancy, just a single 2.5" blade in a 3.5" handle with wood inlays. :D

We need a "holding breath" smiley.

Innovations are nice, but I am happy with the current lineup. As it is, CRK demand seems to be greater than supply, as evidenced by the wait times. I recently cancelled an order for a Mnandi because the total elapsed wait time would be something like nine months or more.

I would be all for a Stockman, about 4 inches closed, maybe with titanium bolsters and exotic wood handles of some sort. As a long time lover of Traditional Slip joint knives, that would just about do it for me! Imagine the level of quality Mr. Reeve and his Awesome Crew could turn out. It would stand the Cutlery world on it's head once again! ( Insert Holding Breath Smilie Here...)

I try not to tell anyone what they NEED to do. I admire the current Chris Reeve lineup :D Maybe "lust after" more than admire.

You're nitpicking. Everyone knew what I meant. It was a suggestion. :p

Come ON! Wouldn't you just LOVE a bigger, thicker Sebbie?

Wouldn't everyone just go nuts for a little 3"-blade Reeve that you could put on a tek-lok sheath or wear as a necker? Not to mention that it would be at a price point that would introduce some new people to his products.

I like the slipjoint idea too. I don't carry one, but if Reeve made one I'd carry one. ;)

I was also contemplating how nice it would be to have a short (3") fixed blade from CRK. Something in the style of the current One-Piece line but compact and w/o a hollow handle. Maybe micarta scales or even a skeletonized handle. Yeah, count me in on that one!

I like the idea of a short fixed blade. I have absolutly no need for one but if CR made it I would buy one.

I like the current line up. The Mnandi handsomely fills the bill as a gentlemen's folder. I work my ivory Mnandi hard. It's a great slicer and takes and keeps a keen edge. For the small fixed blade, I have a small (3 inch blade) Scott Cook Owyhee in S30V that is absolutely excellent. I don't think that a "beefier" Sebenza would be better. IMHO the large Sebenza is beefy enough to be an impressive cutter but not so beefy that it uncomfortable in my pocket. I like to carry my large inlay Sebenza along with my Mnandi. That way I have all the bases covered. Hey it works for me! You guys need to lighten up on the good folks in Boise. I had the pleasure of touring the shop a couple weeks ago. Without going into details, the bottom line is that they got a lot of backorders. That's great, there's a big demand for their product. Adding new lines is going to add to the backorder situation. I have a strong feeling that Chris won't let anything out of the shop that isn't perfect and he won't skimp on the QC just to ship out more orders. That's just the way I'd like him to keep it. :D  ;) :p

I said it once and I'll say it again.....KEEP DREAMING!!! :D  :D :p ;)

I'll play this game :D

Two suggestions for a small fixed blade:

1) A fixed Mnandi, same size, same inlay options, tiny fitted Gfeller sheath!
2) A mini Sable, 2" blade, 5" overall, hollow handle for a pill case!

If you want a bullet-proof super Sebenza, get a Sable III with its 4" blade. :p

I really agree with Scott Dog. CRK has a lot of work to do just keeping up with the current line-up.

Another knifemaker was referring to a similar problem when he said he's not going to look for more distributors because there is a limit to the number of knives he can turn out now, and more customers than he can satisfy already.

There is no end to the possibilities, though, and it doesn't hurt to dream, or to develop these ideas against the day they may consider expanding the options. It does happen, after all -- some variety on the one-piece line, Classic 2000, the Green Berets, the Wharncliffe ... not yet? Oh ... OK, I'll wait!

You stash Quaaludes in your handle, EB? ;)

Oh, you mean the FOLDING Sable III with 4" blade? :p
But seriously, I have not seen the Sable III. Is it beefier than the Aviator?

It is wishful thinking on all our parts as I know the crew at CRK has plenty on their plates, but it's fun to play. I'd love to see a line of fixed blades similar to the GB in some more useful profiles like a drop point hunter, skinner, etc. I'd also love to see a linen Micarta inlayed Sebenza for those of us who want to use our Sebenza like the tool that it is, but like the hand filling feel of the woods.
