You know your INFI is sharp enough when...

When the edge is so this that it bends just by slashing air.

Seriously, if it can slice a soft tomato without squishing it, it's sharp enough for me.

I like the finger nail and shave method myself. Man I like these threads cause some of the stuff you gents come up with is freaken AWESOME. I can't think of a day yet that there hasn't been something to chuckle about.

When arm hair voluntarily separates from the arm and retreats due to the oncoming blade....

usually when i put it back in the sheath and the sheath hits the floor 20-30 seconds later with a fine minced consistency that or i slowly rest my thumb on the spine and my severed arm pops off with such an authority that it enters orbit

i just sharpen my knives down to the point i get a mono-atomic convex edge, you do need a scanning electron microscope to periodically check your work. once the whole edge is mono-atomic, you are finished. the extra work required to get an edge that will split atoms ain't worth the effort. the different alloy atoms along the edge give it a nice toothy cutting action. i do refine the edge a bit by bombarding it with higgs bosons to increase durability - the edge now cuts without needing to actually contact the target substance.

i've got more than one knife, so i can't afford to sever my arm into orbit even if i could. i'd need one or more of you to volunteer.

When INFI can sit completely still and everything around it starts to be cut or bleed by proximity, its good to go. :D

:eek:Simple ... when Chuck Norris cuts himself:eek:

On that note, Happy Birthday to Chuck Norris. 72, I think, is how old my wife said he turned yesterday.

"we're so close that if one of us get cut, we all start bleeding" if you have this kind of experience, then ya know that your INFI......

If you can swing it around in the air, and little sparks pop off the blade caused by the fission of Oxygen atoms as they are split by the edge, your knife is sharp enough

When you can take a human hair and make a fuzz curl on it without cutting through it ....

It's pretty sharp

I pick the "odd" ( or sadly now not so "odd" ) grey ones to pull out ... but unless your unlucky you should'nt be going grey in "High School" .... :foot::D ( only jokin ... maybe it's "College" ) :D

Yes indeed I used my edge pro at 18º and up to the 6000 grit polishing tape :D

Cheapest one I saw was around $165 and I think that was used. Still, if it gives me a sharp edge I don't care. Especially when I'm spending a few hundred on each blade.

I tried using my Sharpmaker on a few CS blades last week. I know I have much to learn but I didn't much care for it. I like the fact that all you have to do is use the right stone and start rubbing back and forth with the edge pro. No angles, size issues or really an skill/technique involved except for picking the right stones.

I just may invest in one.

Thanks

Edgepro is good. I used one and gave it away on this forum. It takes LESS skill.

You also have to keep the stones surfaced flat.
