Thanks for all the great pictures. I was last at the Alamo in 1979. I was also there in during the World's Fair in 1968.

I had been there in 1970 revisited and took my kids in 2004. A great historic mission. So, it's got other buildings around it. We didn't care.
It was still were some of my family perished for the cause of freedom. Thus a somber experience for us. We enjoyed the visit. DM

I was there in 68 also, I am older than I wanna be. I hope it will have some knives, but someday in next couple of years you can stop in Ft. Smith, AR traveling on I-40 and see the U.S. Marshals Museum and the Hanging Judge's Courthouse and gallows. I will keep you posted. When I went there wasn't any tall buildings around it......but the displays were less. So some of Davids people knew Davy Crockett. 300

It/ they were on my Grandmother's side. She was a Allen (English). They came, fought and perished there. His name is listed on a plaque inside
the Chapel. Later some fought in the Civil War. She is a 'Daughter of the American Revolution.' And our family cemetery is listed in the
National Historical Society. DM

Couldn't believe I ran into James. They threw him in the pokey. I guess all the unpaid bar tabs caught up with him.

Santa Anna's Sword. A lot of the collections housed here belong to a Spanish mining family that has been there for several hundred years or longer.

Imagine riding across the country in that wagon.

Skyler, thanks again for taking the time and letting us experience parts of your travels. There's so much history there(Texas) and, of course, in other parts of our great country. Good to be reminded of the hardships and sacrifices made to make it that way. Preston

Ooo, Mak. I like your sense of humor. My wife tried to pay them enough to keep me there. But I wiggled out. DM :-)

There is just a feeling you get when you enter that place of anger and maybe terror, but over all you are aware of their heroism.

Several members of my family were soldiers in the Revolutionary War, originally from the Virginia Colony. Some of these soldiers were buried in a town in Mississippi that no longer exists, but the grave yard is still there, but sadly overgrown. Davy Crockett lived close to my home and one of his wives is buried near my home. It is probable that he survived the taking of the Alamo and Santa Anna had him murdered, along with some others.

Ate these 4 days in a row.
