You own the Para2 and Manix 2.

I've been dead-set on a Para2 for a bit now.

However, I've just realized that I can get a trans-blue FRN manix 2 for half the price.

Blast!

Is the Para2 twice the knife as the manix?

Decisions. Decisions.

The translucent Manix 2 has the CTS-BD1 blade steel which really isn't in the same league as Spyderco's CPM-S30V. Good steel just different. Also both feature proprietary (well pretty unique anyhow) locking mechanisms. I personally dig the blade profile of the Manix 2 a bit better, but have a preference for the nifty compression lock. You aren't limited to just CTS-BD1 with a Manix seeing as they have been offered in several different steels.

I'm one of a rare breed who prefers the Manix over the Para.

Both are great knives but the FRCP Manix is a great inexpensive choice and is a lot of knife for the money.

I prefer the manix 2 over the para 2 although I think the g10 version with 154cm steel has a better feel and it's still $20-$30 less than the para 2.

I have both the S30V Para 2 and 154cm Manix 2 and they are among my favorite knives. If I were to choose between the Para 2 and the blue FRN Manix 2, however, I'd definitely choose the Para 2. I'd rather have G-10 than FRN, I prefer S30V as a blade steel and I much prefer the screw construction over the pinned construction. I'm not saying that the FRN Manix 2 is a bad blade, but I believe that the Para 2 is completely worth the additional cost.

I use all of them.At this time i like the para a little more than the manix.
If you like the solide feel of the para you should take a G10 Manix,
if i remember right is the new one S30V not 154CM.
Also Manix sprint runs have S30(orange,blue,moonglow, green)
If you like a Lightweight good not to expenisive EDC take the FRN Manix.

I've had a Manix2 and 7 p2's. To me the p2 is a great edc knife that doesn't take up a lot of pocket real estate. I'm not familiar with that steel, but I think it's further down on the rankings list than S30v. Used my p2 to skin a deer sat night and it worked great. Equally good for cutting limbs or opening mail or a bag of chips.

If you don't own any frn knives, I would handle one first. I really dislike frn, but prior to owning one I had no idea D: If you have a brick and mortar store near by that carries the light weight manix, or any other frn spidies, it might be in your best interest to check it out. That being said I quite pleased with my para 2. It is good knife.

I think the Manix 2 is a better value. I can't say for sure though, because I haven't handled a Para 2 in person yet. I do plan on buying both though! Gotta have the Para 2. I was actually in the market for one, but it seems to be out of stock in the configuration I want. So I went and bought a Manix 2 instead!

S30V performs much better than BDS1, that is the price difference.

I prefer the Manix II also. Couldn't stand the lock on the Para 2. If you can afford it get the G-10 S30v version.

I like the PM2 better because, the lock is easier to use, S30V will hold an edge noticeably longer than BD1, its slimmer in pocket, G10+liners just feels sturdier.

I like the manix2 better than para2, its much lighter and it cuts a little bit better even thou it has a blade made if worst steel thqn para2... for the half the price of paramilitary... but para2 would be a stronger knife...

I own and love both knives, but I think the Manix 2 Lightweight gets a very slight edge because it is so light in the pocket and I sort of prefer its blade shape. People complained about the BD1(I was one of them) but it really is a decent steel that can take a heck of an edge.

I don't like FRN at all. I think the price is justified with steel, g10 and locking mechanism. I love my manix 2 in 154cm/g10 but I just think the pm2's are in another league and worth every penny.

I just got a Manix 2 yesterday. It has CPM S30V. Is the Para 2 still worth the extra price even though they both have the same steel?
