This is briefly my sad series of events:
1. Decide it's time to get a new EDC to replace my old but sturdy fully serrated Endura.
2. Tell my wife I'd like new partially serrated Endura for Father's day - about $40, I say.
3. Get online and make the mistake of shopping around.
4. Order CS Recon 1 for $80.
5. Receive Recon 1.
6. Send Recon 1 back. Wrong blade and, IMHO, it's not an $80 knife.
7. Find these forums and reach the conclusion that BM 710 is good.
8. Order BM 710 with straight edge M2 for three times Endura price.
9. Very happy with 710. Haven't updated wife. Very afraid.
Seriously, I appreciate all of the advice that's been posted in the forums. The 710 is very nice.
In case you're curious, the blade ligns up perfectly but was on the dull side out of the box. A little time with a Spyderco sharpener fixed that (that recurve is tricky at first!). I want it to be nice and sharp when my wife uses it on me for going wayyy over budget.
