I know the rules. If you hurt yourself in the shop you gotta post pics.
This really was not as bad as it looks. It didnt even hurt. I was cutting of a chunk of steel with the angle grinder. After I had it 99% cut I stopped gave it a little shove and my hand slipped. My arm hit the sharp edge of the freshly cut steel. I finished up what I was doing went into the house and that is when I noticed I was bleeding like a stuck pig. It will be fine in a few days and fortunately I am up on my tetnis shot. Sorry for the sucky pic but I kinda wanted to stop the blood flow:eek:

I close cuts using super glue. Last serious one would have required about 6 stitches, I washed it out, used antiseptic, and then glued it back together. Much less of a scar with super glue. It does unnerve my wife when I do it though.

Oh yeah, thats going to leave a mark! Anybody want to see the scar on my belly?

Nope! lol. Yes, gotta watch out for safety. Ya got to respect what you are working with, and treat it appropriately. Worst I have done was with an ax, my thumb. Still got my thumb, but not much feeling in the tip. Got VERY lucky! VERY important to keep appendages out of the way of sharp stuff.

Having a high tolerance to pain seems to be a mixed blessing here. One of these days I'm going to bleed to death before I've realized I cut myself.:(
BTW Steelshaper, one of my all time favorite albums.

I hammered on a piece of bright orange W2 a couple of days ago and I made the mistake of not making sure I had a good grip with my tongs/pliers and that the piece was flat when I struck it with my hammer causing it to fly right up my nose (freak accident). The blister from the burn inside my nose just popped last night, as well as missing some nasal hair and burn marks up into my right nostrel. This little incident just reinforces why I always wear protective eye wear (Oakley Ballistic M frames).

I think sharp edges have some magnetic ability and attract my fingers/hands!!!
Not a good thing, luckily my tetanus shot is up to date:D

left a knife in a vice ?

I did this once. When I got out of my truck after work, the first thing out of my 2 1/2 year olds mouth is a garbled version of "you shouldn't leave a knife in the vice". I instantly think oh crap. I go inside and my wife is showing me the 3 inch long gash in her arm. Luckily it isn't too deep and she had a sense of humor about it. At least she was working on the house remodel projects while I was at work. She is a good woman, but I won't push my luck by leaving a knife in the vice twice. Stay safe.

Yep, it happens. I got my lesson earlier this year at the drill press drilling pin holes that came with 8 stiches for no extra charge. I now have a drill press clamp so I do not have a repeat performance of the spinning knife blade. Safety is a must in the shop and if if you make every effort to work safe sh*t still happens.

A knife making buddy of mine showed me his belly one day. Buffer accident. He looks like someone did a fast and loose autopsy on him; I bet the forensics guy filled his pants when Steve got up and walked away.

I've been lucky so far, never bled too bad from a making accident. Mine are always from playing with knives. :D I cut my wrist one time horsing around with my brother and a knife, and it spurted! That was freaky.

Not that I'm superstitious or anything, and I think an injury sticky would be illuminating - but I'd steer way clear of it.

I was using a 4 1/2" angle grinder and it slipped out of my hands and I caught it with my belly. Took 11 stitches some of them on the inside. :(

That reminds me when the 4 1/2 grinders came out with the paddle switch and no safety trigger on it. I was using one with a wire wheel prepping a piece pipe for a weld. We were on a remote island in the Bering sea in January and I was wearing a wool sweater. I got to close, the grinder bounced a bit and it snagged the sweater and wrapped it self right up, jerking it out of my hand and shutting it self of. No harm done. YET, I panicked and grabbed the dam thing, :jerkit: turning it back on. That did it! Now we had blood.

Did you know the make a disk for those that has chain saw teeth on the perimeter. I shutter every time I see one of these. I have burned up and wore out dozens for small grinders and I would neve use one of these.

I usually find out that I'm bleeding when I notice my bucket of cooliing water has turned red .
