You'll be SARry you didn't get one

This may be an apples versus oranges (or maybe pumpkins) question. How does a SAR 6 measure up against an ASH1 - LE in your opinion? A better question might be if you have a SAR 6 should you consider adding a ASH1?

I sold my skinny ash to get my sar6. I think they were similar knives. The Sar fit the same blade category as the ash for me with a more versitile handle. The Ash felt like a bigger blade that I wouldn't use often. The Sar has a slightly less bellied blade that feels more jumble. I don't feel like i'm forcing it to do small knife tasks, but its more than capable at bigger heavier tasks. Perfect package for me.

This thread pushed me over the edge! I decided not to be SARry, and ordered a Bruiser SAR 6! Can't wait til it gets here!! :D

Nice set there . I don't have any pumpkin handled any more.

The Sar 6 seems like a great middle sized user.

I bet you miss the pumpkins, you had some sweet ones. T, with all you did to your SARsquatch you won't find anything the SAR 6 does better other than perhaps fitting into a slightly more compact package. I got my coated SARsquatch after the SAR 6 and they are both awesome and have made my ASH1, Hell Razor and SFNO pretty much obsolete beyond nostalgic value.

I agree. Upgrading from an ASH-1 to a SAR 6 is a great improvement, but the other way around may be a little disappointing. The SAR 6 filled the gap in between the smaller ASH-1 and the SFNO that justified having both prior to the SAR 6 coming out.

Now a SAR 6 and a no choil BOSS Jack makes for two entirely different knives even though the blade edge length will be similar.

I picked up a SAR6 LE with kydex from the exchange this week. I am -extremely- impressed with the factory edge. I'd guess it's one if the sharpest factory edges I've ever received. Every Bussekin I've had would shave hair, to one degree or another, but this SAR6 will pop arm hair, above the skin line, with virtually no pressure. Outstanding.

I'm glad to hear it.
And for the record, I was trying to say the SAR6 had a more "Nimble" blade than the ASH... not "jumble" Stupid auto correct on my phone.

Being a newbie I kind of dove into things. I received a BATAC and SR 6 on the same day. At first I liked the feel of the BATAC better because its greater width filled my hands better. Now after a few days of handling both knives I am finding that I like the SAR 6 more. The larger blade is more versatile and from holding both it is less fatiguing. I thought that the BATAC had to out weigh the SAR 6 by two or three ounces. Much to my surprise the SAR 6 was about 1/4 oz heavier at 16 1/4 oz! (My scales are counter balance kitchen with 1/4 oz resolution).

I may be wrong but I am thinking that a 3 1/2 to 4 inch knife combined with the SAR 6 may make the BATAC obsolete. I still like it though because it is without a doubt the most heavy duty knife I have ever owned.

Pictures may be deceiving but the store and Busse list both the SAR6 and the BJ at 6 1/4 inches. According to Busse they have the same blade length. I have medium sized hands and I prefer the smaller grip and overall length of the BJ series. I do love that pumpkin though!

I have had this thing for a little over 2 days now...and the knife is bigger than I thought...and razor sharp! By far the sharpest Busse I have ever received!
