YOUR 2025 Traditional Knife of the Year

Congrats on winning the GAW, danno50 danno50 , and congrats on your excellent Waynorth flat cap KotY!:thumbsup::cool:

Thanks for sponsoring this annual thread and Porch tradition again this year, Jack!:cool::thumbsup:
This morning I went back to see my entries for KotY 2014 -2025 (I apparently didn't have one for 2019-2021 o_O).

The highlight of 2025 for me was adding the 46 Whaler (top) to the ivory collection to complete the quest of acquiring one of each of the patterns that GEC made in elephant ivory. I still need to get them all gathered up for a group photo which is on my 2026 "to do" list.View attachment 3064028
Nice score!!!

Hey, friends! What a year! I hope you all continue to fight the good fight, in good times and bad, and I wish you all a healthy and prosperous 2026!

My 2025 traditional knife of the year? Not a hard choice! In fitting with Jack's requirements, I choose this 2023 ebony beauty from Waynorth Cutlery, The Rider.

This knife has been on my nightstand since I acquired it, being carried and used almost daily, never tucked away inside the box that contains all my traditional folders. Yeah, the pull is a bit more than I would have liked, and the price was a bit steep. Both reasons I hadn't picked one up in '23. Errr, '24?πŸ€”
Anyway, in early 2025, an opportunity presented itself, so I took advantage, and I'm glad I did. I'd like to point out, the pull is not inappropriate for this knife, I just have occasional issues with my hands, so I prefer a lighter pull. That said, the action on this knife is perfect! A pleasure to use, it also compliments nearly all of my traditional fixed blade knives, so it's just easy to grab it and go.
Thank you, waynorth waynorth , for taking your time and efforts to achieve these SFO knives, they are truly gems appreciated by many. I'm quite late to the game, so I'm thankful I've been able to track down a few to enjoy. They are the most treasured and the most satisfying pieces in my humble collection.

Glad you like the knife, Adam!! I am always after Bill to instill my knives with a re-assuring pull - sorry if it's a bit stiff for you! I hope it smooths out as it's used!! I love that knife also!! Especially the forged punch!!
Happy New Year!!

I have been dog and cat sitting at my daughter's house this week and haven't been on the forum much. It was a pleasant surprise to read that I had won Jack's giveaway. Thanks very much Jack, and thanks to everyone for all the congratulations.

A big congrats, Dan...Nice way to start the new year! I appreciate the opportunity to have shared my KOTY, Jack Black Jack Black I'm pretty sure this is my first time entering the drawing and next year I promise to review the rules prior to posting. After posting, I read that the knife should be used and carried! I have to admit that my entry has seen no use or pocket time...at least in 2025. Who knows, maybe I'll pull it out of the safe and drop it in my pocket in '26!
