This brings up a project idea I've toyed with for some time. Not hijacking your thread Roger! Honest! :D Anyway, there was a time when a lot of makers used a touchmark rather than etched their name et al. This limited the amount of info you could get across, obviously, unless you had a really short name. Of course, there were far fewer makers back then and it wasn't so hard to keep track of them all. Not true anymore! I wonder if it would be feasible, and what legal implications there might be, of starting documentation of maker's marks? I'd think there would be a lot of value in this (particularly since I'm in the traditionalist camp with just a mark on my own blades... ;) ).

Dave,
There already is in place what you are referring to. I believe that Okie fella, Mike Williams is heading it up.

That sure makes it easy. Done. Maybe just first initial and last name and continue to add the steel type. It won't be as busy that way. Think I'll have new stencils made up after Christmas and New Years.

Thanks.

I'm joining this one late - you made the right choice in sticking with your name.

Roger Linger, R Linger, it has a really good ring like a good hit on an anvil, and is well rembered. Anyone fortunate enough to purchase one of your knives would certainly want their future generations to know who made the knive, Roger. There is a good chanch of your knives being in a museum some day. Really good chanch, especially your cave bear tooth knife, and some others. Yep, keep your handle on your knives, my 2 cents worth.
