I own 4 Kershaw's including the auto Launch 4 (my favorite knife!).
Just bought the Shuffle blackwash blade as my main travel companion.
Got this knife for $16 out the door!
If I lose this this one..whatever.
I am not bringing any of my knives with me over $50 on my travels around our country..so, this will suffice :)

What do you all FLY with when it comes to travel?

I'm mostly the same way. I have a batch of misc. old odds and ends that I've picked up. I usually carry one of them in checked baggage so I don't worry too much about losing it. Plus if I'm flying I'm usually going somewhere that only allows small and possibly non-locking blades.

I have four knives that I travel with. Usually two at a time. I'm gone at least two weeks/month. I've yet to have one disappear.

This week (currently in Jessup, MD) I have my Alox Vic Cadet (knife/bottle opener) and Leatherman Wingman (for in the shop/work).

Others in the rotation are a Alox Wenger Soldier and a Kershaw Zing.

The other option I've considered is, get the rental car, stop at the local Walmart on the way to the hotel or shop and pick up one of those $4 offerings. When I'm done, hand it off to one of the local people I'm working with.

I travel a good bit for mountaineering/rock climbing/backpacking trips, and fly about half the time. I always take my BM Griptilian H2O. It wouldn't be catastrophic if I lost it, but this just made me remember that I have the older, X-15 T.N. version. I REALLY like that steel, and would not be able to replace it. Maybe I'll start carrying something else. I just like the Grip H2O for outdoors stuff because it's orange, and all stainless.

My travel blades include a SAK of some sort and a multi-tool. The SAK has normally been a Vic Mechanic but I plan to change and carry a Spartan on my next trip. This allows me to add a small screwdriver for my eyeglasses.

A Leatherman Wave has been my favorite MT but a Gerber is less money, less weight and can be had without a blade for travel purposes.

Things change some if I am not getting on board an aircraft. A Benchmade Griptilian and/or Kershaw Zing normally gets added to the mix.

I'm planning an upcoming "walkabout" in Oz:

John Locke is among us. Nice contribution, John.

I haven't flown in quite a few years, last time was on a vacation to Mexico at an all-inclusive resort as part of a employee anniversary thing. Didn't see the need to pack anything other than a small SAK for trimming nails, opening stubborn packaging, figuring out the conversion rate, etc... Didn't want to risk either having something nabbed or potentially holding up the group because I "had" to bring a particular knife or set of them like Mr. Locke.

Wasn't going on a walkabout anyway.

Last time I flew was November of 2015.. I couldn't stomach the thought of being knifeless for a week so I packed my Mehr miniK2 in my checked luggage.
All I did was disassemble the scales/blade, and then packed it in a small pelican case. Not a problem.

I recently took a custom slipjoint, production slipjoint, Spyderco Harpy and Leatherman all in my suitcase to Dallas. Had no problems. No disassembly or special procedures needed. My suitcase was inspected per note left by TSA.

After some 45 flights to Brazil from Oregon, Iv'e never lost a knife or anything of value. I just bundle them together, and wrap them in plain paper with tape. Sometimes I even label them as craft knives or kitchen knives. TSA has never ripped open the paper.

When I had it, I would check a CRKT Carson M16 with no issues. Now I typically pack a beater Spyderco Endura that has some serious wear. I would cry if I lost it though, so I probably need to get a more inexpensive knife that I am not attached to.

When i fly on the plane I always bring a Sock with a golfball. It goes through security no issues. It makes a great weapon and if anyone ever starts some static it will definitely do some damage.

Just got back from a trip and I like to go the inexpensive route too...Rat 1 and a SAK.

Just recently in Mid March I flew cross country with about 15 or so knives. I put them all back in their original boxes and into a plastic ammo can and in the middle of my military duffle bag and then packed extra clothes on top. So feeling the bag just felt like clothes all the way around and if they were to open It they would need to take out several pairs of pants, underwear, and shirts.

I was also worried because I had about 1500 in just that box but sure enough I arrived there and back again with all my belongings. I think if you take similar precautions as I did you will be just fine for airfare travel. It sucked when we landed though I wanted to grab a blade to carry and couldn't get them out lol had to wait until my final destination to remove all the clothes and ammo can.

Sock in a golfball in your pocket is a concealed weapon. Be careful. Some security guards and cops know about prison-style weapons. :)

I travel A LOT for work. Often it involves me flying and as my work is in the bush I need a fairly stout blade (but not a sharpened prybar). I always pack my leatherman and cold steel american lawman. Never worried about it getting stolen. I just pack them in between my clothes and away I go

Kershaw Nura 3.0 It was $18 and works for what I need it for. If i am going international it's a slip joint of some sort. No need to wind up in an international prison...
