GL Drew just posted (5) small 3" fixed blades WITH sheaths in the For Sale area two weeks ago. Absolutely top-rate polished blade with excellent hollow-grinds and wood handles with a lanyard.

Price: $55 delivered. I have never taken advantage of a better deal. I have it on my belt now as my fixed EDC. This must be a loss-leader, and he has my attention.

A small Herb Derr crown stag and carbon steel friction folder. I paid $60 for it in 2003.

I've paid as little as $45 for some custom neck knives, but I've also had a couple of nice ones given to me by makers:D

hmmm... probably a reggie barker hunter, handled in ironwood with a brass guard for $160 - not dirt cheap i know but a great bargain in my book. was going to give it as a gift, but ended up holding onto it.

Last weekend I bought a John Greco skeleton handled tanto 5160 steel 12" long, I thought it was 1/4" stock, turns out it's closer to 5/16" for $49.95

Wow, did you get a deal!

My least expensive custom is an integral hunter from Ron Leuschen. It cost $300.00 Canadian.

The best deal I ever got was November of last year,Don Hanson III had the sale for the widow of his collector/friend,right here at bladeforums.I picked up his first Bowie, sawblade steel,
and his first forged Bowie with antelope handle, can't even remember 'cause it was so inexpensive.
Also a Texas Toothpick with early Hanson Damascus.
A few folks got some real deals as well at that sale.I was just fast that day.

My least expensive custom by far, though there's nothing "cheap" about it. Hand forged 1095, curly oak handle, first rate custom sheath - all by ABS Master Smith Burt Foster. And all for WELL under $200.

And if anyone can point to a better hand forged bowie for the money than this Sam Butler piece, I'm all ears:

Yeah, you were very fast that day. I got a couple of sweet ones too......
But I got a custom Busse for $700.... a sweet one too!
But forget that. I go a custom Dave Hanson axe for $30 from ebay!
Wild huh?

They don't huh?
Well then, if you were to ask my wife all of my customs were around $20.

:D :D :D

What a coincidence, so were mine! ;) (all we have to worry about now is making sure that our wives never meet and compare notes! :D )

.....but, no - "freebies" from the maker don't count.

Here are two from Don's mid-1990's knives I consider a real deal. I have purchased 'users' for less, but these blades won't touch a thing. Don was making great knives prior to 1996 and the Sunfish mark. The slim trapper is one of my favorites. Don's first forged hunter (saw blade steel) has a sambar stag handle.
