Your Country

In Vancouver, Canada. Its not too bad here, weapons are illegal, so no balisongs, daggers, autos or stuff like that but most knives are classified as tools rather than weapons. No specific length restrictions and people are pretty good about not getting weird around knife use, especially considering how left leaning this city tends to be.

Interesting thread. I'm visiting Korea in a few weeks and it looks like I'll be leaving my knife at home. The draconian laws there are worse than NYC.

I live in Victoria and never have any problems. Perhaps it's how you carry yourself ;)

Ontario, Canada.

BTW - while automatic knives are illegal here, assisted opening knives - as long as they do not have a button on the handle - are not :)

In France law does say that if the knife locks, regardless of its size, it's illegal.

Are Opinels illegal in France?

Toronto Ontario
No length restrictions, but can't carry knives that are classified as weapons (butterfly, knives, automatics, gravity knives). Some folks are a bit weird about my carrying a blade, but for the most part they calm down after the "initial shock" of seeing me use a blade other than an SAK. A lot depends on how you comport yourself when carrying. The store that I purchase my knives from is frequented by quite a few police officers and it is not unusual to get into discussions about our respective favourite EDCs.

Toronto, Canada.

Pretty much the same as every Canadian has posted in this thread.

Also yuldeli, does that shop you visit happen to be S&R?

Georgia..... USA..

Everyone carrys a knife down here even though the laws are vague. But where I grew up it was odd if you didn't carry a folding utility knife on your person.

Canada. Between Dryden and Thunder Bay Northwestern Ontario.

I can carry pretty much anything I want, most of the time I have both a fixed blade and a folder on my belt. Away from the towns, most people have some kind of knife on their belt.

mms where can i get a bali-song in warsaw. I presume you can purchase them there since you can carry them if i am not mistaken. I am going to warsaw in a few days so i need a fast reply.

hello mates:)
I'm from Portugal and over here i know no one that is into cutlery as i am!
Over here you can't find any of the knife brands we are used to so i always need to import things:(
This is quite a lonely hobbie of mine so the people i talk to in forums are my only "partners in crime".
Nobody over here knows nor do they care about different steels, titanium, different locks...a knife is just a knife as some say!
When i showed my sebenza to a couple of friends, after shrugging their shoulders with indifference, their only remark was: "yeah, it's pretty"! looooooooooool
We have portuguese cutlery but it doesn't interest me at all. It's kind of like opinel!
By saying all of this don't think this is a retarded country:D people just have other interests!
Has any of you ever been here?
Besides being a very small country with a very fragile economy due to this worldwide crisis, it's a very beautiful country to belong to:)
Over here we have, no wars, no natural catastrophes, beautiful beaches, great healthy food, rich history, great soccer players:D and very friendly people!
you should come and see for yourselves;)
Nice thread by the way;)

barbados.. concealed carry is illegal, anything over 3 inches is illegal.. yet i EDC a full sized griptillian - argument being i work in construction and always need a knife, and its not concealed carry as you can see the top of the handle and the pocketclip sticking out of my pocket. never been hassled anyways, machetes are all over, every house probably has one or two

nowhere to buy nice knives locally :( whatever i want/get is off of the net. how you conduct yourself goes a long way to having the cops hassle u, im always friendly and polite, that helps a lot

Italy...but I should rather say Sardinia.
Knife laws are not that clear here. U can't carry daggers or auto's (law says they're weapons). But for knives, there is no definite rule. And there have been legal trials that ended up in ver different ways depending on the judge and so on.
Basically, the idea is that u can carry a knife if u have a reason to carry it...which is, of course, subject to intepretation (SD would never be accepted as a good reason tho). Apart from hunters/fishermen/campers, there's a big shadow area. Personally, I never bothered too much about it, cause on my island it's not weird or uncommon to be carrying a knife, nor I have ever heard of anyone being checked or searched unless he's done something really stupid...and I try to avoid that.
Besides, I'm an emergency trained physician, so, as a friend of mine once told me (another knifenut but not a health pro), "u can always tell them u might need ur blade for emergency tracheotomy"

I’m in the state of Chiapas, Mexico. Machetes are very popular down here, everyone has one. Mexico has a very rich blade culture. And since we are going through a very complicated drug war, the prevalence of combat knives among some of the people I work with is growing.

You can carry almost type of knife down here as long as it’s not a dagger. The laws change depending on the state you are in. But for the most part, knives are no big deal down here.

Singapore,
The country that bans chewing gum.

It's legal to carry a knife for a good reason. Good reasons are hard to find and justify.
It's legal to collect knives as long as they're not balisong/auto/assisted/gravity/daggers and the usual banned stuff, but the irritating is almost NOBODY besides the police arms and explosive branch knows the law. Not even the police or the customs. More often than not the customs will stop a package and call us down to examine the package. After examining the package, if they think the knife is illegal, they'll send it to the AEB. Then we have to go down to AEB to collect it again. Talk about a waste of time.
Our culture is generally very 'weapon-phobic'. My friends consider my victorinox classic a weapon.
I heard someone got into trouble with the law for carrying a multitool.
I carry my spyderco dragonfly usually, but sometimes switch to a rough rider slip joint if i'm going to busy places.

The laws aren't that bad here. It's just the culture and the sheeple :(
