"Your design or mine" is the motto of John's business. Let me tell you that it is no lie! I have sent John two designs, the baby kephart and a mini nessmuk. John did an outstanding job on both and I wanted everyone to see how well John can work from a simple drawing. He is super easy to work with and damn good at what he does!:thumbup:

Here are my sketches of the baby kephart

i love how both of those turned out....:D

Thanks! I guess those many years of being a tool and die maker are paying off!

Why are the fronts of the scales uneven?

In any case, John did a fine job matching your design. You also did a fine job showing what you wanted. If every customer could provide drawings of that quality, that would be fantastic.

Totally my screwup. :o When I drilled the holes I did not notice the plate of the drill press had slightly tilted. I had made the handle out of a tiny scrap of the wood I had left, then cut it down the middle. After the glue had set I noticed it, too late. I could have replaced them with a different wood, but he had his mind made on the maple. I did give him a discount on the price.

I love those scales! John is right, I REALLY wanted that maple, and it does not make a bit of different to me:D

The baby Kephart is nice but the mini Nessmuk is simply awesome !!!

The little nessmuk is incredible. The proportions are just right.
Great choice on handle material, as well.

They are really nice designs. John executed them beautifully.

I've got one of my designs (based on one of John's models) in the works as we speak. The second set of scales that I sent John should arrive today or tomorrow and I'll be that much closer to having that piece of finely crafted steel in my mitts, ready to take on any bushcraft chore that comes my way.

Oh, the second set of scales I mentioned above were sent because the one time I don't splurge for delivery confirmation/tracking, the package gets lost.

:grumpy:
