Your dream fixed blade knife

I used to collect custom fixed blade hunting knives so now I have a pretty good selection. There were a few makers that I wanted but never got, seems that Dusty Moulton and Neil Blackwood were the 2 that I never got. Now I've moved into EDC folders. If I was flush with cash I would be looking for a large Bowie, not an "art" knife but something that could be used if it came to that. I don't obsess over it because I don't expect to be in a position to even consider buying one.

Now that I'm into EDC folders I buy knives that I can and will carry and use, but I'm at a level there that I don't have any grails. I have some interest in trying a fixed blade for EDC and I've decided that a Bark River Bravo EDC might be the right size, so lets call that my grail. For some reason I think I should have a slightly larger fixed blade but I don't know what I would use it for. There are various Bark River and Busse-type knives that would fit that bill so those could be grails as well.

I hear that Bark River makes some great stuff. Never owned one but from just reading the reviews it seems like a lot of people like them. Looks like the Bravo would be a nice size EDC fixed blade. I am waiting for a Busse TGLB right now as a Christmas gift from the wife but I don't have a fixed EDC. Now I have to start thinking....

aftering see this listed for a while from Ken Hall in the custom section- i finally pulled the trigger:

I dont have much quality in terms of fixed blades but this should remedy that.

I have recently acquired my dream knives...

First Blood and Mission knife Both 45/100

I don't know if this one qualifies as a dream knife for me; but it is a blade style that's been on my radar for a while. It is a WIP right now for me from William Nease... ;):D

I've always wanted a chopper shaped like a chinese war sword LOL.:cool:

I ordered a TGLB on the 9th , Tanker and Black Canvas , what finish did you get?

Always wanted a Winkler Belt Knife. i think if I ever buy another fixed that's what it will be.

Maybe a modified fixed blade Manix 2 XL in 1095 with a blade that's a bit larger, maybe 6". I don't know. I'm not really too much of a fixed blade guy

I really want to get my hands on the Jimmy Lile "Mission" knives from First Blood 1&2, those are the blades that got me into knife collecting all those years back. SOG's Kiku large fixed blade is on my radar too.

I've saved this picture ever since it was first posted here, and nothing has moved it from top place in my mind.

I think a Lurquin Hurak...or maybe something from Rick Marchand.

Yeah, it's not really a knife that catches my eye really and I've heard of more than a few cases of steel issues with the golok I believe so I'm leery of their larger knives that will see hard use.

S7 is a great hard use steel and William's knives are insanely nice.

Here's one from him that I own; it is over 10 years old and he's made huge progress in his knifemaking since then.

I'm far more of a knife user than a collector , but I have to say that I have often admired the work of T.K. Steingass on the knife makers section .

I have to admit if I had the extra cash I'd buy one or more of his creations . I'd NEVER be able to bring my self to use it thought as they are more like art to me .
