Your dream HI item

firkin, I think you're right, at least as far as the feelings of those on this board go. To the best of my knowledge all of the regulars here are khukuri users, we don't buy or want wall hangers. We, however, only represent a small portion of HI's clientelle. I wouldn't be surprised if at least half of the people who buy HI khukuris do nothing more than admire them, because they're too pretty to use. I could be wrong, and probably am, but it is a different perspective. The kamis have recieved conflicting messages over the years. First they were tough enough but needed to be prettier, and now we're asking for the village models, yet others want the Kothimoda in all it's splendor. They are all made to be fully functional, of course, but I would guess that there is a lot of confusion on their part about exactly what our expectations are. From my perspective it looks to still be very much so a work in progress, as all good things are. HI has continually been moving in a positive direction with change and innovation, with flashes of brilliance as well as some pitfalls along the way. The current problem with dull edges and hollow ground bevels is an example of the latter, but I think that we'll find a happy medium with some more time and experimentation.

I think I will change and have what he is having...except I guess make mine at least a few years older.;)

Agree about everything coming with a sharp convex edege. I have a belt sander so I am able to deal with it without much problem but putting one on without power tools would get tough after a few. And yes I know that they are made without many if any powertools but they can be forged more to a convex shape in the first place.

Dream "item" would be to spend time with Bill, Yangdu and Pala. The 3 of them have more knowledge and stories than will ever be written.

And that's the best part especially Palas unique dietary interpretations...
