Your EDC: do you have a "starting rotation"

Try as I might, I cannot own just one EDC knife. Seems like I'm always buying next great EDC knife, carry it for a while, then for whatever reason go back to a golden-oldie; then start the whole cycle again...

These days my "starting rotation" is a Benchmade 720 Mel Purdue, or an Emerson CQC-7A, and a MT LCC. Soon, a Chris Reeve Sebenza will be added.

Do you have a "starting rotation"?

Ron (guncollector)

I'm usually carrying an Emerson Commander or a MT LCC/DA. I guess that would be my first string.
I also will carry, at times, an Elishewitz MARS, a MT Nemesis, Kerhsaw BOA, Polkowski Polecat. I guess that would be my second string!

It all depends on my mood, dress etc.....

(yes, I am a true knife knut, the knife "must" match the outfit)LOL

My small Sebenza goes everywhere with me. I always have at least one other blade on me at all times. My "other" EDCs include a Spyderco Native, Leatherman Side-Clip, SpyderCard,or one of my SAKs. Others may be added depending on need or mood.

I always carry the same two EDC's (3 if you count the Leatherman Micra that's in my key wallet)...My REKAT ATS-34 Sifu and Carnivour Cub.
I don't see a reason to change, as these two REKAT folders will take care of pretty much any cutting job that I may come-across.:).

Work week:

Back pocket-
Benchmade 710HS
Darrel Ralph Apogee
Benchmade 735
REKAT Sifu
Gerber Covert
Front pocket-

Phil Boguszewski Sidewinder

Weekend:
Darrel Ralph Arc Light Big

I've taken to carrying my medium TnT every day to work. I've been swapping it out in the evening and on weekends with my Kershaw Boa. The rest are just sitting there...

Mike

Jeez, Steve! If I had to choose from your bullpen, I might never leave the house.

I'd probably just sit/stand there going, "...let's see...DR Apogee today, good....naw, feels like a Sifu-kinda-day, ok....but then again the BM710HS hasn't gotten much 'pocket-time" this month...."

And that's just the back pocket! :D

Like Mr Work, my day starts with a small Sebenza. There is always a second, sometimes a third knife; these could be anything, depending on my mood or the needs of the day.

I can't think of a knife that could nudge the Sebenza from first place for more than a couple days...either too pretty, expensive or not as solid.

Kershaw Ricochet
SpeedTech Synergy

I guess my "starting rotation" consists of my Keith Coleman damascus & stag Banshee, DDR carbon fiber EDC or large plain Sebenza. I also try to work in my BM 710HS, large Wegner and MT LCC. I carry a BM 940 for more subdued activities and my Starmate is a favorite around the yard.

Welcome to the forums, guncollector. As you are beginning to see, in the knife world, at least amongst us knife knut types, carrying one knife is pretty close kin to wearing only one sock. There are myriad reasons for this, but some are that knives aren't perceived as having the finishing ability of a .45. Given the close proximity in which knife combat can occur, Murphy's law is expected to be working overtime. So, compensation is made ahead of time.

Now, before I go further, you need to understand that many of the knife knuts on these forums are carrying one or even 2 handguns. A great many of us also carry canes, at least as much for self defense as because of need. Of course, many of us do need the cane for ambulation. For those, the first rule in any potential knife fight -- to RUN -- may not be an option, or would be totally futile against most aggressors.

I always carry my large regular Sebenza in a belt sheath. I sort of can't bear to part with it. But, it isn't really counted into my "rotation." About 5 days out of 7, my right (strong) side pocket is occupied by my Spyderco Wegner. The other 2 days are used by my CRKT large Apache. All of those days -- at least at present -- are matched by my Spyderco Native FRN in my left pocket. Also down there in that left pocket is a CRKT Peck, acting as a money clip, but presumably available for something else should things get extremely bad. I also wear a neck knife all the time. Usually lately, it is my Camillus ArcLite. Sometimes I carry my REKAT Fang instead. For over 18 months, I carried a CRKT Stiff KISS. Am getting a CRKT Carson F4 ASAP. That could take over as #1, because am getting a Normark Concealex sheath for it.

When I wear my fanny pack, my Camillus EDC is riding in there. Sometimes, just for the heck of it, I stick my Outdoor Edge Paragee in my right rear pocket. Has a super strong clip, so I know I won't lose it.

You gotta get going and get some knives, man, so you too can have a rotation!
