Your Everyday Carry

There’s a zippered pocket with easy access on the middle section that hugs my back. On a crowded train, my bag is held in front and that’s within reach.

What happens in NYC if they find an "illegal" blade on you? Confiscation and ticket... Or a misdemeanor? Criminal charges? Jail time?

In Calgary, for instance, they INSIST that you conceal your knife but if you don't... It's like a $50 fine like jaywalking or littering.

There seems to be a lot of discretion allowed for the officer doing the search. Besides blade length, the biggest issue has to do with whether a knife is considered a “gravity knife”. There’s a very loose definition of what that can be. Several officers I know have commented that it has a lot to do with whether a blade can be flicked open. Regardless, from my perspective, I try to avoid any needless contact and carry accordingly.

I like to have something as simple and light as possible. So much depends on what I plan on doing and where I'am headed :) I'am pretty much over prepared most of the time :D as far as edc in my pockets all the time at least what's below

That case looks familiar:

At work I carry a pair of leather gloves, iphone, a Fenix TD-35, and an old Craftsman folding razor blade made by Sheffield.
Away from work I have my wallet, keys with a AAA Olight, Bic, iphone, and a Benchmade Franken-940

Well, I plead guilty for not posting in a while - but today let me post my EDC:

As soon as I leave the house, all of this is always on me. (Smartphone is optional, therefore not in the pic)

On any leg of my trip, law enforcement could ask to search my bag. It’s happened many times
I knew visible clips or printing could result in stop & frisk; but I was not aware that the NYC POLICE police deemed random searches acceptable...I likely would have had issues for declining their search unless they had a sound reasons for asking. Just another reason for me to avoid that hell hole (apologies to those that live there or enjoy visiting - I live upstate, and avoid it like the plague; even though I have family there).

I thought I had commented in this thread months ago. I'll add some pics later

Random searches are definitely acceptable here.

I travel through some major transportation hubs, in several places they have tables set up and stop people and ask if they can search.

It used to happen to me all the time, as my gray hair has come in quickly in the last few years—not so much anymore.

Because knives are prohibited on the school buses I drive, as well as at the bus terminal, I only carry the three small ones and the small Channellock pliers. My pants are like dress slacks, pretty baggy, with deep pockets, so that small bundle disappears comfortably in the RFP.

At home or on weekends, I might add a small fixed blade, most likely a small Anza, a BK14 or a mini Skrama, also in a front pocket unless I am wearing pants with a tool pocket.

I used to carry a small flat blade screwdriver with pocket clip in a shirt pocket - with one corner sharpened.
Worked great as a screwdriver, light duty prybar, box opener, and ice pick.
