I was wondering what everybodys favorite EDC steel is, the grind of the blade, and what degree you have the edge sharpened at??? THANKS

well there are a lot of nice steels out there, one of my favorites that i own is CPM S30V, but i would like to try CTS-XHP and possibly CPM S90V someday. my preferred grind is full flat, but it isnt a deal breaker, and 30 degree and 40 degree inclusive angles have served me well.

I like ZDP-189 with a full flat grind,@ around 30 degree inclusive edge. It'd been easier to just say my Stretch II CF.:D

My EDC steel has to be S30V or 154CM, almost wont consider not having a full flat grind, and I sharpen to a keen twenty to twenty-five degrees. Don't mind honing a little extra.

i like many different steels and grinds, but my favorite are what you see on the spyderco military and paramilitary...full flat grind, 30 degree inclusive, and either CPM D2, or CPM S30V...i would love to try S90V and XHP as well...

too general.... edc fixed blades? I like a good carbon (A2, 1095, even O1) and a convex grind (or atleast edge)... EDC folders? I like a good stainless S30v and/or S90V full flat grind...

You may consider adding thickness behind the edge as it is a big part of cutting performance

S90V, FFG, 25-30 deg included angle, about 20-25 thou behind the edge grind for roughish work

20-25 deg and 15 thou for light-medium duty

I use folders the most and prefer the carbon tool steels such as M2 and M4.

As to blade grind, that really depends upon the use and blade shape in general.

I'm not picky about steel, generally. I end up using a lot of 440-series, sandvik, and a bunch of random stuff here and there (s30v, 154cm, ats-55).

So, for steel, I'll say 'Stainless' :p.

For grind and edge angle, I'll say Flat grind (preferable FFG) with around a 25-30 degree angle, inclusive.

Steel? Favorite? EDC?

I dunno. There are so many that work well for EDC. I am much more interested in the rest of the knife than to let my choice of EDC be determined by the steel.

1095, Carbon V, AUS8, 440A, 440C, 154CM, D2, Buck 420HC...They all work just fine for me for EDC.
