Your fav EDC Steel, grind, & edge?

CPM M4 FFG .010 edge. hardness RC 63 to 65 appx 30-35 degrees inclusive for EDC. Polished to around 1200-2000 grit & stropped

carbon: Probably L6.

Stainless: S30V

For folders a hollow or a full flat ground blade. Great for slicing.

I like 154CM with a high flat grind and a 40 degree inclusive angle for an EDC. For work I like a tanto combo edge though.

Full flat grind for me. I love a lot of different steels, so unfortunately, the third answer depends on the steel...

I EDC a fixed blade.
Either RC4... 1095 full flat grind with convex edge

or Swamprat Ratmandu, SR101 saber grind, convexed edge.

I like M4 probably the best because it takes such a sharp edge so easily and is pretty tough. But ZDP189 is a close second and S90V right behind that. I like a high flat grind or a hollow grind on some knives. Depends on how the hollow grind looks because on some like the Manix 2 I think it looks terrible. I have my EDC M4 Rift sharpened at 22 degrees inclusive and like most knives around 25 +/- a few deg.

It was 154CM (still a fav), then S30V.

I am now really liking the CTS-HXP - it takes a wicked edge, holds it for a long time, and not a spec of rust.

I also like the full flat grind.

I do not really have a favorite. I carry one or two knives from my collection every day, and rotate them when I feel the need. I carry flats, convex, hollow, whatever. On any given day I could have one knife with 440A and another with CPM S30V.

Today, and for the past couple of days it has been a Cold Steel Black Rhino {Japanese AUS-8A) and an old beat up Kershaw Leek (440A).

Since I usually have a DMT Diafold somewhere close by, the steel type is irrelevant.

I will tell you what I do not like. Chisel grinds.:barf:
Don't have any now, never will.

I like Stellite 6-K, CPM S90V, Boker Cera Titan, ZDP-189, and chisel sharpened blades that have previously been coated with Titanium Nitride (the coating is exposed on the micro edge). I use a 15 degree bevel per side and prefer a hollow ground blade.

Ideally, 1095, 51200, 5160, O1 or some other high carbon steel with a low angle scandi grind. However I have been EDCing a HEST and now a Buck PAKLITE Skinner as well, which don't necessarily fit my ideals but are damn good knives and get the job done just the same.
