Your Favorite Axis Lock?

Now that the 722 and 940 are no longer brand new, what Axis locks are most popular? Personally, my favorite is the 940. It is slim and holds a relatively large blade considering its handle size. The 705 is my second most favorite because its small size is great for those situations when a sub 3" knife is necessary. These are my favorites but I really like all of the axis locks, they the smoothest production knives I know of.

I have owned some 710's and a 720.I haven't really handled a 940,but I like the looks of the 940 best out of the whole axis line.I like the style of the blade and handles and I like the aluminum handles better than the g-10.Ralph

940! I just got it today totally unexpected, and I'm in love with it already! (Thanks Art)

My favorite is still the original 710 due its 4" recurve blade with excellent geometry/shape, and superb handle shape. Not to mention it's the grand-daddy of the Axis line and designed by the inventors of the Axis lock.

I wish I could have financially justified getting one in M-2, but I really like my basic, plain-edged ATS-34 in satin finish.

Next, I would go for a 730 Ares which proves that G-10 need not be black and boring.

Then again, the 940's unusual blade shape and aluminum handles would be a welcome relief from all the G-10's. 730, or 940?...730, or 940? Hmmmmmm.

Least liked: 720. Sorry, Mel Pardue. The handle is too blocky and boring for me. I don't much care for the HUGE Benchmade logo on the handle either.

So what's my next Axis purchase? The REKAT SIFU in D-2 w/rolling lock. Okay, so it's not an Axis. Sorry, Benchmade but there are no BM Axis knives with 5.5 inch blades in D-2.

I am looking forward to the 940 but I want to see one first, so it may be a while.

I would have a hard time picking between my 730BT and my 705BT. They are both great, but quite different.

The 940 is a great knife, but my favorite is my first axis lock the 710 plain satin finish.

My 705BT, without question.

710HS! It is the biggest and the strongest. The design is extremely versatile and excels at everything. It is my second favorite folder of any kind, after the Darrel Ralph Apogee or EDC.

I have a 710, 730, and 940. My favorite, by a wide margin, is the 730. Between the other two, it's a toss-up, depending on where I'm going, and what I'm wearing.

My favorite is the 940, since it's the only one I own (it's blue). I'm very impressed with this knife and the Axis lock. I'll probably get a 722 soon, and may get a green 940 or two in the future.

The one that doesn't need to be sent back to Benchmade at my expense for a new Omega spring.
