Your favorite Back Pocket Knife: Traditionals

All are splendid knives to keep at hand and are specially intended for backpocket carry (very flat profile).

This one comes with a pocket sheath. Fits nicely in the front right or right back pocket. Small but very strong and sharp and quite some blade for its size.

This old Sodbuster has sure seen a lot of action.

I don't carry stuff in my back pockets, but I do occasionally carry this in a jacket when the weather calls for it.

Case yellow peanut in cv horizontally. Barely noticable, and if im sitting for extended periods i just turn it vertically.

Buck 110, Opinel N°12, and soon a Cold Steel Eland. All stand up nicely next to my phone.

Timely thread. Phone upgrade has changed my daily carry. I've now run a vertical seam 1/2 way up my right rear pocket and have moved my EDC knife there, on the outer edge of the pocket. Very easy and very comfortable when sitting.

As a result, I'm moving to my preferred larger knives.

I've replaced my standard Opinel #9 with a flattened Opinel #10 Inox drop point. No picture currently. No compromise in terms of ergonomics.

This Case Sodbuster is getting a lot carry time, particularly on those days I have to work out of the office.

The big surprise to me has been the Schrade 6OT. It's noticeably lighter than the Buck 110.

Note to Buck: Please add a bare head option to your custom shop!!

Case SS Workman Series 4 5/8" Sod Buster with Blue Composite Covers

Not exactly a favorite back pocket knife as the thread title asks but all-in-all a good choice.

Mudbugs are great backpocket knives. Tough micarta scales that won't crack when you sit on them. Long blades, very thin handles, and light in weight. The steel and blade grinds are both excellent, and you even get a back lock.

Been carrying my GEC 99 with a lanyard and a pocket hook in my right rear pocket for months now-very comfy, as the hook keeps it vertical. I hardly notice it anymore. Left rear is a Kershaw flipper, as I find a rapid opener on the left handy for a variety of reasons. About the only modern I carry anymore.
Thanks, Neal

Lately if I'm working outside, it's a 47 Hayn Helper or 71 Bull Nose with a leather lanyard. Easy to fish out of my back pocket and pinch open while wearing work gloves.

I carry my red linen 98 whittler in my back pocket. It's a pretty slim design and I get 3 different blades.

Yellow Case Trapper #3254 CV. Fits great standing alongside my wallet.

Tony Bose coined the term Backpocket I think, and this is how he suggested to carry the knife. One time I had a Reese Bose stag Backpocket in my back pocket ,while on line at the register at a busy deli . Pulled out my wallet and it took the heavy knife with it,dam near bounced off the entry door of the place before dropping to the floor. Two LEO's in there shot me a look ,like ? Good thing my hair was short I guess. It's not a flawless carry & now that I have some kinda nerve deal I'm using a front pocket wallet, and the big knives ride pretty good alongside it in my front right.

This works great for me too. It's easy to carry a 4" - 5" knife if it's upright next to my front pocket wallet. I tried the back-pocket thing and it always made me nervous I'd be losing a knife.
