When hiking, I always carry a hatchet, medium fixed blade (4"), and a folding knife. I have been using a BM551 D2 Griptilian lately. A very strong lock, nice steel, and very comfy handle. It's not too big, so it sits on my waiststrap in a pouch and I don't even notice it. I use the Grip more than any of my other knives while hiking, and would not want to hike without one..

What do you carry hiking as far as folding knives? Pictures are welcome!

Similar to yours, the RSK Mk1 aka Ritter Grip aka BM 552 -- S30V, drop point, wider cord and flat grind.

This allways worked for me.

Though I have been looking for a woods knife, Im going to be putting an M21 through some experiments. But a griptallion or 710 would be really nice.

SAK Huntsman. All I ever needed. Scissors and saw are a boon on the trail. Small, light never know it's there until you need it.

I carry a Ritter Grip or a Spyderco Military. I like both and it's always a tough decision picking one for a trip.

Gerber Gator 2, non-serrated. Its cheap and pretty durable. I can beat on it a lot, but at $30, if I break it, its easy to replace.

A simple Opinel #8 always works it's way into my pack somehow. By the way, that's a nice set up you have there Fonly! How do you like the Hunter Revolver?

I usually have three knives and a multi tool with me when backpacking. For a folder I carry a Spyderco Native. It's light, easy to open, and I keep it sharp.

Backpacking will usually find me with a Spyderco Para Military, Military or an Endura in my pocket. I tend to like the bigger blades in the woods and trails.

SAK OHT or my Old buck lite OD green handle. Soon to replaced with a Spyderco Native.

I usually carry a BM806D2 and a folding saw. Maybe it just me, but I wouldn't take an axe/hatchet along for a backpacking trip, due to the chance of accidentally wounding myself when I am an extensive distance from a trailhead. Sure, I could cut myself with a knife, but a swinging hatchet/axe wound cause some serious damage.

This summer, in addition to a Reeves double-bit Hatchet, a Buck 105, and a SOG Paratool, I packed a Spyderco DKPK. Just the right size and fairly lightweight clipped to the RFP of my hiking shorts.

Mini-leatherman and Ritter Grip usually. Sometimes I swap the Grip with a Gossman PSK that rides on the neck.
