Your Favorite Chopper?

I'm still searching for the "one". In the Busse family, I'm torn between the Fatty and a CGFBM with mags (don't own one, yet...) and the Basic 9. I definitely prefer the B9 over the BR. The DogFather beat out the BR also and probably will/would do what the B9 does for me, but the B9 is so much lighter and faster that I think both have their place. I also love my Rat Mastiff and haven't had the heart to use my minty Rat Daddy yet. I'm thinking that a standard CGFBM with mags may be "The" Busse Chopper for me. I love the FFBM, but it just feels way, way heavy to me, of course I think the DF does also. I think it's because my first Busse was the B9 and it was probably the one I've chopped the most with. Currently, the B9 is the one under the mattress, the rest are 6 feet away on top of the knife box behind the bedroom door:D

Lighter and faster, that translates into better balance and less fatigue. The Basic nine is about as perfect as a large camp knife can be. I don't think I could ever break it with my own strength, and the handle does not hurt my hands with extended use.

The Basic 9 is almost identical in weight to my custom Don Hastings camp knife. Also, the handle shape on the 9 is slightly different (smaller) than the DF and seems to make a better fit in my hand.

For years I have been experimenting with handle shapes/design and I reprofile many of the machete handles to suit my paws. For me, the handle feel is very important and influences my choice when I venture out into the wild.

right now its this one

I like it a lot better than my BM-E

I prefer the Dog Father to either the FBM or FFBM. I like its reasonable weight for carry, the blade heavy feel, and most of all, the shock absorbing Res C handle.

+ 1 These are my thoughts exactly.

However, the FFBM I have on loan is making the choice difficult. I can only afford one big chopper at the moment (w/o bitting into by CC), so I need to choose just one for now.

You just can't beat the price on the DF but the FFBM is such a monster.

Ahhhhh! Decisions, decisions.... But either way I know the knife I pick will more than handle any job I could ever throw at it. :)

My 2 favorites. An old school straight handle Battle Mistress and my beat to hell $10 carbon steel Pakistani bowie.Iv'e used both extensively and trust both not to fail me.The Busse is my fav of course and holds an edge MUCH better but that ragged bowie and me have been through some hard times together and it's never failed me.

Yeah,I liked that bowie so much I bought another and fancied it up withh cocobolo scales and a custom milled stainless steel quard

I'd pick some more up for friends but most i've seen in the last few years were stainless and I have a serious aversion to stainless blades.
