Your favorite neck knife

RJ Martin Handiman. The most useful with a D2 steel recurve blade. G10 scales with an amply recesseed finger groove. And a slightly dropped handle design for a more natural point. It is a fighter disguised as a utility knife. Not to mention a politically correct name.

Light, compact, functional and well worth the price.

But its multi carry sheath is kind of awful for neck carry. Its foldover style is quite narrow in design and does not allow for either a ball chain or lanyard to be secured wide enough apart to minimize the entire unit from swinging/ twisting during movement. One may end up with the blade drawn facing the opposite side!

Oh yes. For bare minimum dress attire, I' ll go with my LaGriffe.

My new Allen Blade Chipmunk. It's small, but I could field dress a deer with it. An excellent knife to have around your neck for everyday carry.

..snip.. coming back to is a Fred Perrin La Griffe.

I just handled the Emerson LaGriffe at the
local gun show and agree that the thin
profile is very nice. I couldn't imagine
doing anything with it the way it fit
my hand so got the CRKT Bear Claw instead.
The Bear Claw is much thicker, but feels
nice in the hand. Due to its extra weight
however, I also got the CRKT PECK - a
very light and narrow neck knife. I got
both of these for the price of the Emerson.

ps. these are my first CRKT knives...
pss. actually, another reason I didn't
get the Emerson was that it came out
of it sheath too easily. (fear of knive
in pants!)

I also like the Emerson La Griffe, it looks great around my rear view mirror on my black car.

Around my neck is usually a REKAT Small Utility. Great little knife, it came hair poppin' sharp and has maintained its edge better than most knives I own/use.

I started in 1992 making neck knives... http://www.eskimo.com/~boyerbl/neckknife.jpeg[img]
I first attended a show in SanJose CA and nobody knew what was around my neck. I modeled the knife after a indian knife and since I used kydex I designed the knife with holes for gripping and to index the neck sheath from. After excellent sales, I also noticed Newt Linsey's neck knife (he claims to be the inventor of the neck carry knife). Since then my neck knife has evolved into one with handle scales and a sheath and pocket paddle, my customers wanted a multi-carry sytem.

Right now my every day wear neck knife is the Running dog Personal tanto. It's a great knife!
