Along the lines of the jacket thread, lets hear 'em.

I'm digging my OTB jungle boots because they are extra light weight. I'm hoping they last as long as my altimas.

As for sturdiness and ruggedness, I have some Asolo 535s that are very sturdy as well. What are your tried and tested boots that are standing the test of time?

For most tasks, Keen hikers.

For something a bit heavier, Danner GTX or Danner Acadia's.

I spend a lot of time in my Altama "recruit boots".
I also have a pair of gore tex Danners that aren't bad, but my all time favorites were a pair of Matterhorn gore tex lined, steel toed, lightly insulated, lace to toe boots.
After being resoled 3 times the leather finally started to give way, and I had to retire them.

mine as it stands are some comfy boots I got at Bass pro shop "Redhead" 100% waterproof excellent sole Traction and going on a year & a half with out fail.
Great boots for the money and in my Area of the Texas outdoors.

I've had a pair of Cabela's Outfitter series hunting boots for going on 10 years and they're still going strong. The leather is similar to soft ball glove material and wears like iron. Unfortunately, they are a bit clunky for hiking and backpacking. In that category, I have tried four brands/types in the same time period and still not found the "holy grail" of hiking boots.

Don't have them anymore I walked them off my feet. But my fav. pair were my issued jungle boots that were issued to me for Panama.

Currently using Timberlands. Not sure of the model. I have a hard time getting a good fit, so I try everything when shopping, and choose strictly by individual boot, not makes or models.
My all-time favorites were the old Herman Survivors. Wore them 'til the soles wore completely through, and wish I'd tried having them resoled. I've been disappointed with everything else I've had since.
Hi-Tecs happen to fit me well! :barf:

I wear a pair of LL Bean Goretex lined hikers that I've had for a few years. I like them.

Ive posted this pic before, but here it comes again.

Fav boots are my Meindl Island Pros. Comfy and tough as nails.

I have been wearing the same pair of Columbia hiking boots since late 2005. They rock. They are reliably waterproof, incredibly comfortable, and sturdy. The heels have started to wear down, which reduces their traction on ice (solution: wear snow shoes!), but other than that they are as good now as they were the day I bought them.

All the best,

Most of my time in the woods is very light going, so I am usually in trail runners. However, if I am heavy packing in rugged terrain, I wear 12 year old Scarpa Deltas. If I am hunting, I wear a pair of Danner Santiams.

The last time we were in Gatlinburg we visited a hiking shop and my wife saw some Merrell trail shoes that interested her. I bought her a pair for Christmas and it got me thinking in that direction. I currently have a pair of Vasque Sundowners that I wear when outdoors. They have great support and I love them for that, but they can be a bit heavy. I am looking for some feedback from those of you that wear trail shoes. What kind and why do you like them?? How do they work as far as support?

Just breaking in a new pair of Danner TFX desert boots. Very comfortable, light weight and seem to be very sturdy. They are a warm weather boot so I got a half size bigger to accomodate heavy wool socks.

For work I like my Matterhorn Miningboots, toughest boots your will ever slip your foot into  For spring~fall I wear my Morrel Vents & for colder weather/hunting I like my Wolverine whitetail hunters  all 3 are great boots IMO ;)

Merrell Ventilators are really light on my feet & feel great all day on the trail !
& for the price they are hard to beat !
