What is your favorite knife that you feel like was slept on by the rest of the knife community?

Mine is the Ontario RAT-1 folder.
it really works well for most tasks strong, excellent blade shape and easy to resharpen.

Soque River lockback. Made in Japan, paper micarta handles, great f&f, very smooth action, and AUS8 blades heat treated to 57-59rc. Seems no one's even heard of them, and I've never seen them mentioned at the forums here.

By comparison, the RAT-1 is discussed all the time. Not sure I would call it a "sleeper."

Are you talkign about knives that do not gte much talk on the forums? But are still really nice knives...If so lets see...I like the Delta Z knives...the osprey is the most common, but of course no one talks about them anymore sicne the company went out of buisness in like 1999...They were contracted by other companies in Italy, but the Delta Z logo was stamped on the blade, very nice knives in any event!!! Plus...When I show people the knife (osprey) they are always like thats nice, but I never heard of them before? Its almost like a cool secret I have alogn with a few of the older guys on the forums, I am sure most of the regulars here remember them...

The Delta Z knives were pretty nice I have one and I think I am going to go dig it out right now. This morning I decided I am going to carry sub- 100 edc knives for a week, that is what got me started on this. I grabbed my RAT 1 to open a package and realized a few things. As great is wonder steel is; AUS 8 works very well for day to day use, and is much easier to resharpen. I ended up taking it a step further and just carry my AUS 8, 13C26, and 1095 knives for a week. I will be ok there is an S30V blade on my Charge TTi if I start having withdrawals. This will be a fun experiment all inspired by trying to sharpen ZDP 189 this morning.

The Kershaw Cyclone...I talk about it on the Forums quite alot, but for such an excellent folder, it doesn't get the "press" that it deserves.

Kershaw ET

The E.T. is definitely a sleeper!! Just when you think you're getting comfortable with the toggle, the thing jumps up and slices your knuckle open:eek: That's why mine is for display purposes only;)

Seriously though, I don't think that the Mcusta basic folders get nearly enough respect or attention. The VG-10 blades are sharp as hell, easy to touch up, the action is smooth as silk, and they are extremely easy on the eyes. I own three Mcusta folders and love all of 'em.

The Katz Cheetah is a good serious folder. Strong lockup, and a handle that both looks good and fills the hand for a firm grip. The leather sheath is top notch, and the knife has stood up to alot of work over the years, and takes & holds an edge well.

When the ET was first introduced, that was a major concern for some people. But Thomas W brought up a good point- it just needs some getting used to, think of all the balisongs that have keeps the bandaid market thriving.

I cut myself a bunch of times when the ET first came out. I really hated it until I got it figured out. Now it is one of my favorite knives.

The Ka-Bar Impact Spear point with D2 steel and micarta handles.
I bought mine new for $65.00, which is way below MSRP. It's the only D2 blade I own, and I was a bit hesitant to get one because I've read so many negative comments about D2 on this forum. But I have had no problems with it. It cuts great, stays sharp for a good while, and is easy to sharpen. I just wish the blade were and inch or two longer, but its smaller size allows me to carry it on my belt without freaking out people I meet when I'm out hiking. And the Eagle sheath it comes with is very well made (in the USA, like the knife).

Kershaw Blackout. Seems not to exist on this forum. Same for almost all of the KOA.

CS Medium Trailguide. Very nice little lockback, flat ground, in Carbon V. I love this little folder. It's not high quality, but it is very well suited for cutting, easy to sharpen, great ergonomics, and holds a good edge.

I like neck knives in general and the Microtech one in particular(not the ti-card the other one). I just got my Strider ED today and love it.

I have a Fenix(the light people) folder I got for 6$ with a torch and it is very nice little folder. Decent chinese stainless, good coating and nice g10 handles.
It is also razor sharp.

Outdoor edge folding caper. AUS8, G10, distal taper, pocket carry, I bought mine for $30- great worker/edc, sharpens well.....
Before I got one I asked opinions on the forum and NOBODY answered me. Sure am glad I got it though.

the opinel wins hands down in the sleeper race humble, sheeple proof, cheap and will out cut allmost anything out there
