your favorite sleeper

Heavy use sleeper, Ranger RD-6, RD-7, RD9. Best knife for the money, and customer service is tops. How many knife makers answer their own phone??? I called yesterday and Justin did just that.

CRKT M1-13. It's as tough as, say, a Buck Strider, without the hype or price - it's not 420h, and the grips follow the design better with more ergos than the Tarani super checkering. Plus the liner lock has never failed me. With the Black Ti, it can't be scratched easily, and looks as good as the day I got it.

I've carried it months longer than the Tarani just because it was so much better. Execution is everything with an authorized repro. I still keep it handy in the tool kit.

outdoor edge magna with aluminum handles was a real cool knife, never seemed to get much recognition,& its much nicer than the current crkt version.i made a heavy duty one by taking the heavier frame of the zytel version & mating it up with the aluminum handles.now its a thicker liner lock than the original.......

I guess my Buck 192 & AG 192 Vanguards are my favorite sleepers - even often forgotten by the Buck folks. They just fit right in the hand - are well balanced - and sharp, with their 4.1" fixed drop point blade, wood handle, brass pommel and finger guard, and leather sheaths. I suppose the 'all weather' 692, with it's rubberized handle and nylon sheath, might be better for some. I have the 420HC bladed 192, same material as the 692, and the super S30V AG 192, which is almost too pretty to use. The standard 192 would be great for the majority of hunting, camping, and survival uses - with the understanding that a camp axe/hatchet would be carried for 'real' chopping.

For SD in an urban jungle, I carry a revolver.

good point on the ka bar mule excellent knife for the money and I love mine. it didnt even come with a pocket clip but I still carry it on occasion.

I think customs in general don't get a lot of press here. I see a lot of posts about productions but customs are shown more on other forums. I think it is because most people don't use or carry their customs as I do.

I thought I would mention another. The Ka-Bar Dozier thorn. I carried this knife off and on for the last 4 plus years and it has proven to be a hell of a knife. stays sharp, lightweight, and locks up well.

lets see..I love my CRKT Rollock knife...great little beater and I know the blade won't fold on me since it doesn't fold at all, lol...I never read anything about it on the forums...good sleeper! Plus $7.99 at smokey mountain knife works...

Well Said!

They have the warranty and toughness of a Busse but without the cost.

Spyderco Volpe. beautiful knife, an excellent workmanship, 3.5" full flat ground blade, frame lock

As poor as current S&W knives are IMHO, my OLD S&W folder ( I believe they called it a folding hunter) from the seventies is great. I have no idea of what the steel, hardness or any specs are (if anyone does I would appreciate being told) but the flat ground blade and relatively thin stock make it a great slicer.

Kershaw Mini Mojito...Great lock, sharpens like a razor, lightning fast to open, reversible clip, 13C26, great ergos for a small knife, beautiful recurve, just an all around great knife.

And yes, I believe glockman's on Kershaw's payroll:D If not, perhaps he should be, or at least get a lapel pin or something...

I would say that the Kershaw Avalanche doesn't get the press it deserves. S30V blade, G-10 scales and full SS liners - what's not to like?
