You find yourself alone in a long time survival situation.
You have to pick up 2 blades and 2 items you can carry what do you choose?

A good knife like a Fallkniven F1, and a good axe or machete, dependent on terrain.

Then you need a fire starter, and a 100' of 550 cord.

Everything else can be manufactured by those tools, and fire.

Are we nekked or clothed? The reason I ask is, if we're clothed, I have a chit load of stuff in my pockets and I gotta chit load of pockets cause I'm wearin my vest usually too. Do I getta keep em? If I'm nekked, the wife won't let me go.:D

Oh, ok. I'll play with what I read. I'd grab my Becker C/U-7, but there ya go again. Cause my Becker has a sheath kit. Geez, I can't win fer bein over equipped here. The other would already be in my pocket and it's a Vic SAK w/saw.

As far as two items go, item 1 would be my belt and item 2 would be my pack. However, like my Becker, they have lots of gear in and on them. If you are asking for 2 individual items like a lighter and a canteen, then I'd opt for my spark-lite firestarting kit w/tender and my PUR Hiker filtration system. I'm sure I could find a pack someplace while out and about and start scrounging for gear here and there as I make my way away from whatever it was that turned my life into a living H E double L.:D

My favorite survival blade is this one, designed by me and built by Dave Beck.

In my avatar is a picture of me with my Beck WSK, another knife I could rely on in the wilderness. Like Robert H. said, a firestarter would be a big help as well.

Knives: Fehrman Final Judgement and Crawford Kaspar neck Knife
Other Two: Canteen cup for purifying water and man-made flint

I'll be specific to my own environment.

Knives

My RAT7 or something of similiar style.
Leatherman Wave or SAK Rucksack (I actually prefer the rucksack but I can imagine a few situations in long term survival where pliers would be a godsend)

2 other items

Fish Hooks.
Firestarter.

It's a sad reality but I cannot imagine being anywhere in my immediate territory and not being able to scrounge everything else that I need off the beaches. This would include plastic bottles for water, miles of fishing line, rope, clothing and even footwear.

1. SAK Trailmaster
2. Any large chopper

3. The biggest Ferro rod I can buy
4. Cooking Pot(stainless)

I would love a tarp but I it is easier to make shelter than a cooking pot. I know there a bark ones and stomach sacks and such. Having a pot can be a great water carrier and cleaning spot. lots of uses.

sorry opted 2 items...Im trying to make up for the others ;~{)

That's a sweet looking piece of kit Jared. A couple of questions?

1) What steel?
2) How does it saw?
3) Do you ever put your thumb on the spine to do a push cut then regret it?

Sorry PlaceKnives I tried to e-mail you...but you dont want e-mails.

Here is an actual usable "saw" edge.
Even been tested.
Cheak the link.

Before this type of "saw" edge all were practicaly usless, mainly ment to cut your self out of a helocopter "if" you servived. For all intence and perpaces, saw blades that are not cut actualy like a saw...arnt a saw, and wont work, just wreak the scabard.

personnaly I'll choose my Busse Steel Heart, my Victorinox multitool
A stanless steel cooking pot and Firestarter.

Good question.

Since I get 2 blades I am having a tough time choosing. I guess a Beck WSK (or Tracker) and a 3" fixed blade with drop point blade. My 2 items would be a cooking pot and 550 survival cord.

My rationale: With blades I can build my debris hut for shelter, carve my bow drill set for fire, carve traps and snares for food. The cooking pot I can boil questionable water, make tea, and cook stews. The rope would make life much easier for the bow drill (fire) and snares. Also could use the cord for lashing on a long term shelter and I can take it a part for fishing line.

knife one,CRK Mountaineer II fire starter in handle
knife two,sak with saw
item one,poncho
item two, canteen with the attached cup-that counts as one, right

OK I wanna play!!!

First Ill give the generic answer: in this order
-traditional hawk
- Gerber gator fixed drop point plain edge (or similar..)

-Water purification means...tablets/filter whatever
-.22 mag with some rounds.

Those arnt really set in stone choices! How bout some specifics???:) Location.....Time of year.......Wilderness crashed plane in middle af alaska, or lost hunting in Georgia Lets get to the nitty gritty man!!:D

Great thread!
I would opt for my Himalayan Imports YCS Khukuri.
My SAK, Rucksack model
I like the stainless cookpot idea so that will be item 1
Ruger Mk 2 and a brick of ammmo will be item 2
That way I will have meat for the pot.;)
I will have to make fire the old fashioned way, bow and drill.
