Your favorite woods....

One of my favorites. Double Dyed Black and Red Box Elder Burl ;)

That looks just like the block I got from you last year that I put on this knife. On the left in the first pic.

One of my all-time favorites is red gum eucalyptus. Sure, some might say its a little plain but it is by far one of my faves, but I feel it needs to be stabilized... Of course there's always the exotics where vasticola burl is at the top of my list.

I think an easier question would be "what woods don't you like?"

lignum vitae is my favorite. There are prettier woods out there but lignum is super dense and stable, smells fantastic and is easy to work.

I'm actually in that one on another forum, I think right now Hickory and Black Locust are tied and Osage Orange is number one simply for how hard it is to work.

I told 'em i'd gladly take any wood they did'nt want off their hands. Especially Osage because it's hard to come by in the South-East.

I live in 'oak country' here.
It's a different oak then common in the US.
I have a table made out of it and used cut off bits from the same beams, as a handle.
I think it is an undervalued wood.
I also have an 100+ yo shed here. I saved most pieces of oak that came out of it when renovating.
Can't wait to work with that. It should be darker and harder.
