I don't (yet) have any 6" knives, so show me your favourite 6" blades! Choppers, slicers, hunters, survival knives, whatever. Just want to get better acquainted with what's out there in and around the 6" blade size :)

I ordered this one yesterday, off of the exchange, and it'll be my first knife in this size.

*edited to add maker info for the above knife*

It's a 'Gollik'. Guy named Jakub Golla. Never heard of the maker before, but after a bunch of googling around and checking out his previous sales on the forum, and his facebook, it seems like he's a young maker in Prague. Steel's Sleipner (bohler/uddeholm), and it looks like he's having his blades professionally heat-treated. Can't wait to test it out and see what it can do.

Did you have a chance to try and test that knife?

RAT 7 in D2 and Bark River Canadian Camp in A2. Two completly different knives, but I like the Canadian Camp better!

Only have this one right now. But will eventually get an ESEE 6 and a CRK Pacific sometime next year. :D

That thing is sexy! May it serve you well :D

Thanks! It has been so far - haven't had the opportunity yet to press it into hard service beyond general camp chores and some arbitrary testing, but it's proven tough thus far, and it's a comfortable tool in the hand, and carries well for the size. The thin grind cuts and cuts, and the knife still seems plenty tough nonetheless. Can't ask for much more than that.

I really like my Survive 7/7 and their line up of blades in 3v and 20cv. Although I mostly use my 4.1 and 5.1's, but in the 6" blade length range the 7/7 is my favorite thus far.

My new favorite in this size range... Busse Skinny ASH-1 (it has since been stripped, used, and just a little abused)...

Left to right: Schrade hollow-handle 'survival' knife with the top of the guard ground down; WWII vintage Cattaraugus 225Q; and an Old Hickory butcher knife about to get new scales on a reshaped handle.
