Hello all,
Yes it's another of those dreaded recommend me a knife threads, however this one is slightly different in that I'm asking for a pattern.
I recently lost my favourite knife, a beautiful TC Barlow which was my only truly traditional knife (the others being multi-tools and SAKs). This leaves me with a rather large hole in my edc rotation because I used to carry the barlow every day and then just change my second knife. So I need a new traditional but I can't make up my mind as to patterns. So I am asking you knowledgeable folks, what is your favourite EDC pattern knife?
I would like recommendations for patterns/knives over 3.5" and with two or more blades.

Thanks in advance for all suggestions :)

Something with either a sheepsfoot or Wharncliffe blade plus a clip or pen blade. Often that ends up being a stockman. But a pattern such as the Case swayback also works.

Yah . . . probably a Stockman one small super sharp blade sharpened to a shallow angle; then the longer for when I need that and the sheep's foot for a straight blade for when that's best.

Hey buy a Cold Steel Ranch Boss. That way they get some more practice making 'em before I buy mine. And from what I have been reading they need all the practice they can get. CPM-S35VN and a really nice knife if they can keep their game up.

I'll put in a vote for the old Schrade 93OT Wrangler - it has my most essential blades - a Turkish Clip and a Sheepfoot. A bit hard to find in the original version, however the current owner of Schrade does continue to make them in the far east. The same frame is available as a Stockman in the Schrade Ramrod 98OT and you get a third blade (the Spey) as well. Both meet your size criteria at 3-9/16". OH

Hard to go wrong with a GEC 66 pattern. Same size as the TC but IMO a tad more comfortable in the hand, and if you opt for the slim variety you get two blades in a thinner package than one.

2 blade jacks.. CASE mini-trapper, Texas jack, 92 jack.. And any EZ openers!!! John:thumbup:

My favorite EDC pattern is a Victorinox Alox Cadet. They come in a number of colors (I like the standard silver myself) and are easy and inexpensive to replace if you are prone to losing pocket knives. Next would be a toss-up between a Case Medium Stockman (6318 or 63032 patterns) or the Case Medium Jack/Small Texas Jack (62032).

The stockman pattern is very useful, and I have several. But there is one I have been carrying more, and I really like it. It is the RR Improved Muskrat. It has a long sheepfoot and a slender turkish clip. Even though it is in the neighborhood of four inches long, it is very slim and rides unobtrusively in the pocket. It is very nicely finished, one of my nicest RRs in that respect.

I am fond of Lockback knives myself. I would like to see a GEC 83 with a wharnecliff blade.

I like single blade lockbacks. I rotate between GEC #72, #99, Case copperlock and trapperlock.

Well the stockman is certainly getting the nod here. I've often thought about getting one and am thinking of the Queen made rail splitter. Any comments on this?

Full size trapper, two blades of equal length, small enough for pocket carry and large enough for most tasks.

Been rotating some gecs... Washington punch, 15 w/ punch, 15 w/ cap lifter.

Really having a good time with the hobby. Ode

Trapper. I've been going back and forth between different patterns but always come to the trapper. I like carrying in an open top sheath. As classis as it gets...
